The Black Diamond Anodized Mini Pearabiner is a light and smooth belay or rappel biner with a Screwlock sleeve that locks the gate, not the nose so there's no dreaded “seized sleeve” when loaded with your body weight. Sculpted for use with an ATC or similar device, Black Diamond's Anodized Mini Pearabiner has a 12mm rope-bearing diameter and small overall size for maximum functionality. Its minimum weight and volume works well for both rappelling and belaying.
Bottom Line: A light, low profile belay and rappel biner.
The "Mini" refers to it being small for a pear shaped biner, according to BD.com it is "Slightly smaller than the RockLock", which is their largest biner. If you are set on a BD try the Positron. http://www.backcountry.com/outdoorgear/Black-Diamond-Positron-Screwgate-Carabiner/BLD0556M.html BC has a unconditional money back guarantee, so even if you buy either one and it doesn't fit, you can send it back no questions asked.
P.S. BC is sold out of the Positron right now, so if you need it now... The quicksilver is more or less the same biner with a hook nose rather than the key. http://www.backcountry.com/outdoorgear/Black-Diamond-Quicksilver-Screwgate-Carabiner/BLD0612M.html
Nice compact design that is easy on your rope over and over for belays and rappels. The old design got updated with the key nose for ease of use, which is great. This is a nice alternative to the standard mega biners generally used with an ATC/ super 8.
Its small, does its job well, and is easy to lock/unlock. Never had a problem with sticking and wears well, especially for use with belay device. Highly recommended.
My designated abuse biners. If I take friends out for a little TR, these are the best. Strong, easy to use with a single cold or dirty hand, and long-lasting.
Great durable biner that's easy to use and has plenty of room (they use the term "mini" very loosely). Great biner for rappelling and top roping. You always know when it's locked and it's lightweight.
I use mine on my PAS and for belaying. They have alot of room in them for rappeling and belaying and the keylock nose never snags on webbing. They are perfect. highly recommeded.
These locking biners are perfect for belay and repelling. They are strong and leave you plenty of room to work with. Some people are surprised of how big they are but I think they are perfect, plenty of room.
if you want a locking biner that is a bit smaller and lighter but can still handle two ropes with ease this is for you. angle or the top gives plenty of surface and room for rope but isnt overly bulky.
These biners are great. They say "mini," but have such a large gate opening and shelve space that you would never notice. The Pearbiners are great for belays with plenty of room to clip in multiple items. Their smooth axis makes them great for the traditional munter hitch belays.
I have only used this biner to lead belay in the gym and it worked fine. I am used to a much larger biner, but I think for sport climbing everything will be just fine. It has a good shape.
Not mini at all, very much full size and much larger than some of the other black diamond ones out there. Very strong (obviously), looks great and works perfectly. I've got my heart set on using these only!
a bit small for me, i like the quicksilver. i do anchor work and multi- so this just doesn't get used at much. for using with an ATC it is ideal, but its a bit hard to hook up being so small.
