Black Diamond 3/4 Baskets - 2007

Black Diamond ¾ Baskets provide a solid push in the snow and fit on any BD skiing or trekking poles. The cut-out section of the basket has a serrated edge to give you more traction on icy days. Big enough for the fluff and small enough for trekking without getting in the way—¾ Baskets can be used for nearly any application.

Bottom Line: It's time to replace your broken baskets.

Tools for Ski Mountaineering

Having designed these baskets many years ago, I'm obviously biased, but I really like them. (And no, I don't get any royalties on them.) Where the asymmetry aspect really shines in when you are booting up a steep couloir, doing a long traversing ascent or our on a day of firm snow, like corn skiing. The asymmetry allows the tip of the pole to contact the snow first (instead of the edge of the basket), so that the pole has less tendency to "skate" when initial pressure is applied. The little teeth on the top/bottom help with grip and/or for pushing on things like heel lifters.

These baskets are much more ski mountaineering oriented rather than deep powder baskets. Powder baskets work well in powder, but in other conditions, they are just extra weight and skate like a banshee on roller blades.

No problems with them..

I've used these all winter in the backcountry- haven't had any problems. I even used these on denali by superglueing them to a pair of REI superlight poles.

I need a pair of replacement baskets for poles that are fitted

I need a pair of replacement baskets for poles that are fitted with a 3/4" outside diameter sleeve at the tip. The sleeve has a 1" diameter colar to stop the basket from sliding up the pole. Will these Black Diamond baskets work?Randyrandybwhite@bresnan.net

Durable

Replaced my baskets on the BD carbon flick-lock poles. Tree skiing tends to take a toll on your poles in the East...Functionally I have no problems with these. Alot of discussion about what baskets are "best," but I can only say these are strong, work in varied snow, and don't fall of the poles. Which is all that matters to me in the end.

Great for all but the deepest snow conditions

Pretty average baskets, nothing to really make them stand out other then if yours broke and you need to replace them. They work very well and very durable but a medium size so not ideal for deep deep fluffy powder. All else they work great.

Good at Pushing

By:

These are great baskets. They really push off, even on really light Utah fluff. Not as great on very hard pack, ice, or crud. Recommended for the American West, not for the East. Fit's my BD back country poles easily, and slides right on. Great as a replacement for those nicked and worn baskets.

worked good

the product worked good after i got the stuff to make them work. i needed the little metal part that fits the poles. i got a used one that was bad and cut it out and used it. then i needed a little metal clip to keep them from falling off. they come in pairs and it didnt say that on the website so i ordered 2 because i couldnt risk only getting one as i was going skiing about a week and a half after i ordered. they did work great in colorado. if i break one, i have a replacement one.

Versatility

I love BD! I have had my trekking pole for about 3 years now and use them everywhere. That is why I love the snow baskets. I like that I don't have to buy a separate pair of poles for snowshoeing and winter hiking. Super durable and cheap to boot!

Great for the steep and deep

I put these on my BD Traverse poles and they get the job done well. They are ideal for softer snow with a larger basket. Unlike other pole baskets that have ripped after constant abuse, these remain intact after over 100 days on them. That says a lot about the durability of these...
