Big Agnes Storm King Sleeping Bag: 0 Degree Down

Ideal for winter camping, the Big Agnes Storm King 0-Degree Down Sleeping Bag weighs only 3lb 6oz (regular size) and has a roomy rectangular shape which is extremely comfortable to sleep in. To make the Storm King so lightweight, Big Agnes filled the top baffles of the bag with 650-fill down and didn't use insulation on the underside of the bag, which would get compressed (and therefore would be useless) when you sleep. Instead, on the bottom of the Storm King is a rectangular pad sleeve that holds your sleeping pad securely in place. *Compatible with Big Agnes' 20in-wide rectangular pads.

I am a Big Agnes lover--Pomer Hoit Bag--Love it--Seedhouse 2UL tent--Great---Their pads are the best--This bag left me w/ cold spots 2 nights this past winter on a backpack trip in the Adirondacks. It was cold - lows near 0-degrees, but even w/ a down jacket and pants on I was chilled most of the night. I like the room afforded by this bag -vs- a mummy but I'll stick w/ 800 down in the winter--Much warmer and lighter.

I have my down bags professionally cleaned. More costly but well worth it. If you must wash your bag at home, use ONLY a front loading washer, on the gentlest setting, using special down soap. Tumble AIR dry, periodically breaking up the wet clumps of down that will develop. Finish by line drying, preferably outdoors. MAKE SURE NOT TO CARRY YOUR BAG WHEN IT'S WET UNLESS TOTALLY SUPPORTED OR YOU COULD TEAR OUT THE INTERNAL BAFFLES! WET DOWN IS VERY HEAVY.

How big is big?? This is quite large. So large that unless Big Agnes puts 800 down into to replace its 24 oz 650 fill down it won't sustain you in 0 weather when inside a tent. You need the Yampa 40 to stay warm in 0. Trust me. This is a +20 bag--but large enough for a guy who wears size 36" pants legs and has 34" sleeve length.
