Big Agnes Lost Dog Sleeping Bag: 50 Degree Synthetic

For a summer camping trip when a mummy bag is overkill, pack the Big Agnes Lost Dog Sleeping Bag. This 50-degree-rated sleeping bag gives you lots of room in the foot box and shoulders to wiggle and turn yet takes up almost no room in your pack. In addition, a pocket holds your camping pillow, so you're sure to get some solid ZZZs. Big Agnes stuffed this bag with PrimaLoft eco, a synthetic insulation made from recycled plastic bottles. Three bottles per bag, to be exact. Then Big Agnes wrapped this eco-friendly insulation with water-resistant, windproof nylon so you stay cozy even if a few clouds roll in. Like all Big Agnes Bags, the Lost Dog features a sleeve for your rectangular sleeping pad. You'll never wake up next to (instead of on) your sleeping mat again.

Bottom Line: Why compromise comfort when you can nestle into the Big Agnes Lost Dog?

Sweeeeeeeet

Wow, I've heard alot about B.A., and it's all justified, this bag is light weight and very compessible there is plenty of room inside the bag, I like to sprawl when I sleep and love the room this bag offers, and the way the pad stays in place is awesome, I liked it so much I bought one for the wife, got the opposite zip and the bags mate together to make a nice double bag, also I'm 5'11" and there is plenty of verticle length for me

20 inches wide (and 72 inches long for the regular bag, 78 inches long for the long bag). So most regular pads will fit, except for the large (25 inch wide) pads.

Sleeping with Big Agnes

By:
July 15, 2009

The 50 degree Big Agnes synthetic bag coupled with a Big Agnes clear pad provided a great solution to a July week in the rain in the Southern Appalachians. Bag is light weight and with a pad that stays with the bag provided a grwat night's sleep. Would recommend to anyone backpacking in similar conditions.

What size sleeping pad will this work with? I have noticed that other BA bags don't have any insulation in the back and I am concerned that it wont work well with my thermarest neo air because its 3/4 length and I wont have any insulation under my feet.

You are right. You will not have insulation under your feet. BA bags are meant to be used with inflatable pads that go from head to toe. You could slip your 3/4 pad in the pocket and be just fine, the only thing is that your feet will not have any insulation. Which if you bought a 3/4 pad means you are using your pack or some other kind of barrier. The Neo would work with the BA but personally you would be better off going with a different setup. If you are looking for a cheap summer bag checkout the Lafuma brands, really nice bags that won't break the bank especially the summer bags and they have all around insulation. Hope this helps.

Way cool

By:

I coupled this bag with a 1 1/2" self inflatable pad and I slept like a baby... even though I wound up sleeping on top of it because I got too warm. I also bought the fleece liner "just in case", and just used it as my pillow. If you pack it right, the bag, liner, and pad is about the same size as a standard tent bag. It was twice as bis as the Crestone, which can really be compressed in a BIG way.

Much Better Than Expected

By:
April 23, 2009

I bought two of these units and combined them into one. I was concerned that they still might not be enough to cover a 6'-6" / 300 lb+ frame. I was surprised to find the combined bag still had plenty of room and was very comfortable.
I needed a lightweight bag for warm weather use. I used it in a 90 degree F environment and the bag was still very comfortable and did not result in any overheating. Prior to this, I had used the bag in a 48 degree F environment with very limited additional clothing on. The bag was still very comfortable.
I was surprised that the bag was able to work that well for me in this range of temperatures.
It is constructed much better than I had expected and I planned to get more. It compresses to a remarkably small size, which makes it ideal for use in my emergency earthquake preparedness kits.
