Big Agnes Dream Island Sleeping Bag: 15 Degree Synthetic
Sleep as cozily with your partner outside as you do at home in your bed when you cuddle up inside the doublewide Big Agnes Dream Island Sleeping Bag. This 15-degree synthetic bag holds both of you. Big Agnes insulated the Dream Island with synthetic Quallofil, and each of you gets a draft collar to keep out chilly air. Zippers on both sides enable the two of you to get into this bag easily, and a pocket in the hood holds your fleece or camp pillow so you have a soft place to rest your head. An integrated sleeve lets you slide your sleeping pad into it—since your pad becomes part of your sleeping bag, you won't roll off it in the middle of the night. Get either the Big Agnes Hinman pad or two 25-inch sleeping pads and coupler straps for your Dream Island.
Bottom Line: Both of you will drift off to sweet dreams in your Dream Island doublewide sleeping bag.
I have this bag, the cotton storage sack, and the nylon stuff sack. It does stuff into that 12x14 stuff sack, but it isn't easy. I'd say the stuff sack is doable if you needed to only a couple times a year (traveling), but I wouldn't want to do it too many more times. I find I used the larger cotton sack 95% of the time (car camping).
I think this is a great value for the quality. It's 15 degrees, which means you can practically sleep naked in a 40 degree area.
I like how you can put the pads in the back, so you don't slip off the pads when you sleep. I don't use air beds, since they always break. Lately we've been using those pads for those lawn chairs, and they insulate heat and never break. Very comfortable! Like a normal bed (almost!).
Overall, the ultimate sleeping bag to get for the ultimate cuddlage time.
we are very interested in this double bag. looks awesome! my question is how far do the zippers go down the bag? If we need a little "foot airation" is that possible?
hi julie, the zippers stop about 6-8 inches above the bottom of the bag. there are dual sliding zippers on both sides, which can give you that foot breathing room you look for while still keeping your upper body warm. ive left this bag completely open on the warmest summer nights and the bag peels back almost entirely off the pad. good luck!
Absolutely great bag. Very roomy for two people, like a queen size bed. Some of the best nights sleep I've had outdoors for sure. A little bulky, but worth the trouble. Get it.
How much pad does the sleeve on this thing accommodate? Can you fit a double wide pad on top of two single pads, for a total thickness of 4"? Is the spad sleeve rectangular, or does it follow the bag outline?
Hi Rick. I've got the BA Hinman 78x50 pad for this sleeping bag, and i can assure you that you can't fit any more pads in there. thats not to say you could just use the pads underneath. but BA designed this bag with that sleeping pad in mind so it wont shift around at all at night. they fit together perfectly for an excellent night sleep in the outdoors. good luck!
I have both the dream island bag and the pad. Its an awesome sleeping system. It is great for car camping, and honestly if I'm car camping, I don't want to be squished in a little bag. I want room to move in like my bed at home, but this bag is still great if you want someone to snuggle with. Outstanding product, and i'm guessing from the construction it will last for years.
Yes, it does. Big Agnes makes one of their Hinman series pads specifically for this bag. It is double wide, self-inflating and very warm (high r-value). Alternatively, you can slide two 25" wide rectangular pads into the sleeve. Two Thermarest Trail Lite pads in the Large size, for example.
We tried this out on a 7 day camp out and it definitely was worth the money the only problem we found was sometimes the zipper would catch on the material and you had to back it down to make it work . But other than that it was everything we hoped it would be and I would buy it again if I needed one and we recommended it to other campers in our camp area and this site as well to buy it from. Thanks again.
My husband and I are looking to get some backpacking gear (first timers) and are really intrigued by this sleeping bag! Is it feasible for backpacking, or if we are going to spend the money for backpacking gear should we go with two backpacking bags?
Backpacking requires the proper planning, and one of the more important things to remember is weight. If you or your husband don't mind a heavy pack, or your going to hike only a few miles to your campsite and you split the load of tent, sleeping pad/s, food, water, clothes, stove, etc, this bag will work fine. But this bag weighs 9 lbs, which will require a large backpack and will take up a lot of space. If you don't mind spending some more $$$, look at the Big Agnes King Solomon bag. It's roughly the same design but with down fill instead of synthetic. The King Solomon will pack smaller, offers the same temp rating, and is over 4 lbs lighter than this bag, a real plus if your gonna hike some distance. Backcountry has them in stock and I'll include the link below. Remember to take a look at sleeping pads, Backcountry recommends 2 25-inch wide sleeping pads and coupler straps: www.backcountry.com/store/BAG0119/Big-Agnes-King-Solomon-Sleeping-Bag-15-Degree-Down.html
The Big Agnes Dream Island sleeping bag is a great couple's bag. I like having zippers on both sides because my husband is a warm sleeper while I'm a cold sleeper. When he feels a little warm he can unzip his side a bit for a breeze while I stay toasty. At 5'11" he is comfortable with the length of the bag. I also like the pockets for the sleeping pad and pillows. The Big Agnes Air Core pillows and the Hinman 50" x 78" sleeping pad work well with this bag.
So we're flying to visit family, and while we're there we're going to do some car camping. Is this the best stuffable inexpensive-ish bag for a two-some? It's warmer than I need (probably not going to be under 40F) but it looks like the best one that's not too much $ and stuffs down small enough to take on a plane easily.
Hi Vase, This bag is difficult but doable to stuff down to the advertised 12x14. you may find you'd want to stuff it into a slightly larger duffle bag to avoid the time and aggravation of getting into the small stuff sack. that aside, this is probably the best and most comfortable double wide sleeping bag for the money. good luck!
First time to camp on the Harley and this bag stuffed well, was light, and packed well on the bike. It was great for me and my wife/girlfriend. We were warm, comfortable and that makes for friendly. If you love sleeping close and a biker this is the bag to have.
