The ergonomically-mapped Backcountry.com Synth Trail Crew Sock ensures dependable comfort and durability whether you’re lapping the mountain singletrack or sneaking off on an urban reprieve. This slightly stretchy sock knows how your foot likes to be hugged. Light mesh on the top of the foot vents heat, while spandex reinforcements make sure everything stays put while you run. The three pack means you’ll have plenty for the weekend. Oh, and the big Goat logo on the Synth Trail Crew says HI to those on your tail.
Bottom Line: The Synth Trail Crew Socks knows how to take care of your feet.
...But the best part is mismatching them! They're cheap enough you can buy 2 sets and mismatch the colors all you want. I actually bought 3 sets, because I'm really into mismatching different colors of the same thing.
One Obnoxious Downside: These things pick up hair and fuzz like few other socks I've had, and it'll stick on the sock through the wash. My house is infested with dogs, so I don't wear these unless I'm headed out the door or in shoes. :)
They feel pretty comfortable, but the strategic placement of material is a kinda overkill. Also felt a little slippery in my shoes too, which I think is from all of the different fabrics. They do breathe super well, and they're ugly as sin which I like since your socks get trashed on the trails anyway.
Love these...Great deal, move in the shoe well (I like a snug shoe and a little more slip between the sock and shoe)...they're warm, but breathe well so not to get foot rot...and I love the non standard colors with the goat logo on the heal. Definitely beat the heck outta my wigwams
I use these socks as an inner sock to a thick wool sock for hiking. My last trip left me with wet feet for two days, and no blisters. Plus, you know your big time when your socks are made for a left & right foot...
I wear a size 9 - 10 depending on the shoe. I decided on purchasing a L/XL, do you think this will be the right fit?
If I don't hear from any one I will make sure to put that info in my review. My size is common yet it falls right between the two sizing options which really stinks!
A size L/XL measures 6.25" from heel seam to toe seam. (heel seam to top is 7"). This was intended for 9-13 but if you're a 9 or a ten, a medium should work just fine.
A S/M measures 6" from heel seam to toe seam. (heel seam to top is 5.25"). This was intended for sizes 5-9.
The SynthTrail Crew Sock fits my foot very well and the "breathability" is excellent. They do not provide much padding or extra cushion so make sure your shoe is a tight fit. If you have space in your shoe your foot will slide. I have used these with the KEEN Targhee 2 Mid Hiking Shoe. The socks are okay with this combination. I usually use Smartwool or Bridgedale socks with great results. The SynthTrail is incredibly thin and tends to slide around in the shoe. I would recommend these for a tighter trail running shoe rather than a hiking shoe.
I use them for cycling because they don't feel mushy like other socks in the bike shoe. They are a little thin, so hopefully they don't get holes in them too soon. They also have a design on them that indicates which foot it goes on (R/L) which I thought was funny. I wish they came in a no-show cycling version.
I picked up a couple 3 packs of these on clearance a while back not expecting too much. These things are amazingly comfortable. I tend to have sweaty feet but not in these babies. I stay comfortable and dry. Its hard to notice i have socks on when i am wearing them. No need to look any further.....
Very comfortable socks. Lately most of the socks that have any cushion seem to be too thick. These socks are both thin and supportive. I love the blue.
I'm a fan of these socks. For the money, you won't find another three-pack that fits or supports your foot this well. I like the strategic zoning, since I get blisters easily through thin socks, but I don't want a heavy sock either. The only negative I am predicting is that somehow, I will end up pulling 6 Left socks out of the dryer, with no Right socks to be found anywhere.
Good sock with extra thickness in places with the most wear while walking. It is thin and lightweight. It wicks sweat well from my experience. It will slide a little in your boot because it's thinner than other hiking socks but I haven't gotten any blisters from it yet. Anyway, it's a good sock.
I have used these socks on everything from 4000ft approaches up to Lone Peak Cirque and in the Tetons to quick hour trail runs. They are super comfortable with padding in the right place and they breathe great. They do a good job of wicking moisture away from your foot. Because of this they do stink a lot after 3 or more days of use but what did you expect after that? You do need to be careful when taking them off or putting them on a sweaty foot. Since they are so light you can rip the area above the heel pretty quickly. Other than that they have no durability issues. $25 for 3 pairs of long lasting, light socks is a great deal also!
I think these socks are an excellent short sock for a variety of activities. I have worn them around the office and on a series of day hikes. They can be a little warm for my feet when inactive, which surprised me, but they were very comfy on the hikes and I would recomend them. PS I got them on sale, which makes them even better.
These socks are cool. For those of us who love backcountry.com what better way to show your support? I wouldn't wear these with hiking boots but for hiking, climbing, really any sue theya re comfy, thin and styling. They do get a bit warm for their thickness but that is the only downside. Also we bought 2 pairs (3 pairs each) for $9.99 on an awesome BC sale. I would not pay $25 for 3, $10 was a good deal.
I've been loving these on my daily runs, then I used them on a 12 hour adventure race and liked them even more. Only changed socks once all day, feet were wet all day, no blisters or hot spots at all!
These are solid. They're comfortable hiking for a while, but they do smell after a while. Not too bad, though. Get the socks. The non-padded areas are very thin, though, so they're not cold weather socks.
I will definitely purchase these socks again.....I do work for backcountry but I'm not biased....my feet sweat on good hikes and these socks kept my feet dry and cool.....WILL ABSOLUTELY GET AGAIN!
Cheap(price), comfy, wicking and stylish(in an outdoor gear way). They have lasted through long hikes and tough approaches, dont stink and fit very well. My $.02- Buy em'. Oh, and they are labled L and R in case you had too many after adventure beers!! lol
These socks are perfect for my feet besides loving to hike. I'm on my feet most of the day at work. They're so light and cool and the padding in all the right places. I had to go back and get some for working. I can really tell the difference and the end of the day. Try them.
These socks aren't bad. They're pretty thin, especially in certain areas. That works well to keep your feet from getting too hot/sweaty, but it seems like it might shorten the life span of the socks. Time will tell I guess. The synthetic material does tend to pick up a lot of hair and stuff, so it may not be the thing to wear around the house if you have a lot of pets or shedding rugs. I like how they feel when you put them on - supportive and snug - but as other people have said, they do kind of slide around in your shoes, especially if the shoes are smooth on the inside.
I bought a pack for my boyfriend to use biking and he got holes in them on the first use (at least 2 of the three pairs). I don't know if there is something going on in his shoes, or if he was man-handling them, or if he just got a lemon pack... but unfortunately they did not work out.
I mountain bike in these and they generally do a good job of keeping my feet cool and dry. Would love to see a broader range in size as L/XL is a little roomier than I'd like for a size 10 foot...may be a little too thin when the weather drops, so planing on it being a summer sock.
These are great form fitting socks. The are comfortable and they are a great deal. They are a bit slick in your shoe, but that's what this type of sock does. I wouldn't wear them in hiking boots. I'd use wool socks for that. These are great for my tight fitting bike shoes and I wear them for running too.
They got the padding right and I like the fit. They are on the thin side and are a little slippery inside in my shoe. My foot slides a bit when I'm hiking. My feet got hotter than with cotton socks.
these are running socks, not a hiking sock. they are intended for a lightweight, ample cushion and support. and very little else. these socks will be much cooler than a cotton sock if running, or getting after it.
