Comfortable enough for yoga class and tough enough for bushwhacking through over-growth, the water-resistant, highly breathable softshell Backcountry.com Women’s Overhang Pant owns the trail from early spring to late fall. The Overhang Pant’s summer-weight Polartec Powershield softshell fabric vents body heat as you move and the Hardface fabric treatment stands up to abrasion and pilling through seasons of abuse. An ergonomic design and 4-way stretch softshell fabric offer a flattering fit on trail or off and multiple pockets put your essentials close-at-hand.
Bottom Line: The superlative do-anything softshell pant.
I just read the label on my Backcountry.com Rime Jacket, which is made of Polartec Power Shield like these pants.
What is says about Polartec Power Shield: - Extremely Abrasion Resistant - Blocks 98% of the wind - Water Repellant - Highly Breathable - Stretch for active comfort - Less noise than a hardshell - warmth w/o weight - Machine Washable
These will be SLIGHTLY wind resistant, moreso than your average fleece, but not nearly to the level of a true softshell. The "Hardface, makes the outer surface of the fleece smooth, and helps a bit to cut the wind as compared to a normal fleece, but it is still very air permeable. Hope that helps.
Really cute, almost too tight. (I am 5'3" and 120 lbs, normally wear a sz 4). However the color is definitely not black, and not brown. Kind of odd shade that I decided would be hard to match with anything so I returned them
I picked up a pair of these for my wife and now she wants some more! They are holding up extremely well, they are water-resistant but not when you're hiking through rain covered vegetation....water soaks right through at that point. They fit true to size and don't fall down at all, like a lot of other pants tend to do. All in all a great product from a great company!
I am 5'9" and 145 lbs and the M fits me nicely, a little snug - which I like, because pants always stretch out and there's not much more annoying than always pullin up yo drawars while trying to hike/climb, IMHO. Hope that helps...(FYI
I ordered a women's large in these pants, influenced by the lovely things that my male roommate proclaimed about the men's softshell pant from Backcountry.com, thinking that perhaps the picture was showing a smaller size. I found that the "Loose 3-D ergonomic fit" was a little less loose about my muscular biking legs than I would have liked. I could feasibly have kept them, but prefer less constriction for climbing and biking. If you like your pants pretty contoured and have legs on the slimmer side, I'd recommend you check these out. I do think the pockets on the side are a bit weird though, like strange pouches. The fabric and utility seem awesome, and I would enjoy a looser cut if backcountry.com made another version of these pants.
