Plastic sucks!

By: Backcountry.com Sponsored Athlete

I drink way more water in these because it tastes so much better then water in a plastic bottle. Plastic is forever. This is the size I use for a full day in the bc. It is just big enough if you drink a ton of water before heading out and have some water waiting at the car.

The capacity is great - I seem to be the queen of water consumption, and it's nice to have the 42oz in this one. I also needed a bottle with a narrow mouth because I have a tendency to pour down my front. Mission accomplished with no spillage and this bottle!

A storm was coming in just as I was taking some pictures and I forgot to grab my canteen before heading back down. Oops. Hopefully it won't blow off until I can go back for it.

Super Fresh Forty!!!

18/8 Stainless Steel without the welded seam inside the bottle. Most of the Klean Kanteens have that welded seam inside the bottle from construction... This one DOES NOT! This bottle is constructed that much better. (Most stainless steel is made in china)

Powder coated blue...Not BlinG shiny, BadASS Pow coated Blue, matte textured finish. NiCE! Don't waste your time trying to find another...I already did that for you!

This bottle comes with the stainless steel cap as well...Way better then the plastic one...Isn't that the reason why everyone's jock'n the stainless steel...Because WE don't need all that plastic that ends up in our ocean at some point....

Don't just reduce...STOP plastic consumption!!!

Overated

By:

After purchasing this item found several products much cheaper of equal quality at brick and mortar stores. Shouldnt this product be cheaper if its sold online and has online store branding? Further, found that the coating dings easily just bumping into the water machine at the rock gym.. can only imagine when I take it on longer hikes. Since its kind of heavy, its decent for the gym however the camelbak is still the way to go on the trails.

Great Bottle

By:
June 13, 2009

This bottle was a lot larger than I thought it would be. I have to be honest I didn't really pay attention to the size when ordering it. But it's perfect! It's easy to clean even if you added more than just water. I love having it in my car to keep my hydrated on long road trips.

Bigger than you'd think

By:
February 23, 2009

Unlike a bunch of the reviewers here, I haven't even noticed the metal on metal sound when the lid's closing. The main thing I noticed was that despite not looking much bigger than a Nalgene, it holds a third more. The more paranoid buyers can rest easy too, it's easy to clean, doesn't retain bacteria or smell, and is BPA-free. Ice cubes fit in the mouth, but you can also drink out of it in the car without drenching yourself. The powder-coating is surprisingly durable, as is the rest of the bottle, and best of all you get to represent the Goat we all know and love.

At least its the same bottle every time, instead of the wasted plastic. No aftertaste! I prefer this style to the plain stainless. I love the Goat!

Great multi-use beverage bottle

By:
April 22, 2009

This bottle really rocks. At 40 oz, it's bigger than a Nalgene, but the diameter is a little smaller so that it more easily fits into bottle pockets. It does not leak, even when filled with carbonated beverages. The mouth is big enough to fit ice cubes, but not so big that you find your beverage flowing down both sides of your neck. It's stainless steel, so I don't have to worry about bisphenol A or other toxins leaching into my water, coffee, carbonated beverage, etc. The color on the photo is accurate (i.e., the color is *not* powder blue). Other than the cool looks, I don't think that the powder-coated bottle has any advantages over the regular stainless finish. For those of you who really like to hydrate in the backcountry (you know who you are) this is a killer bottle.

No. This holds 8 more ounces, so it's bigger.-------The Sigg 1L obviously holds 1L (33.8oz), and the Backcountry Klean Kanteen 40oz bottle(also says its 1.14L, which is actuality 38.5oz). So the Backcountry Klean Kanteen holds between 4.7oz and 6.2oz more than the Sigg 1L, depending on what numbers you look at.

Perrrrfect!

By:
February 22, 2009

This waterbottle freaking rocks. The mouth of the bottle is big enough to easily fit ice cubes of all shapes and sizes, and yet small enough so you don't spill all over yourself when you hit a bump while driving. The only thing I don't like about it is that nasty nails on the chalkboard sound it makes when screwing and unscrewing the cap. Other than that, It's perfect! Excellent Nalgene replacement.

Heavy metal

By:
April 8, 2009

It might be indestructable and look really cool, but it's too heavy for the trail. It's also inappropriate for the winter; no one likes freezing fingers and lips to their water bottle. It would be great for the office or classroom, except for the unavoidable annoying squeak that lets everyone know you're about to take a drink.

Klean Kanteen is ideal bottle

By: Backcountry.com Employee
October 2, 2008

I like Klean Kanteen because it's stainless steel isn't coated on the inside like some other stainless steel bottles so there is no chance of anything flaking off and going down my throat. And I love the Goat logo, the powder coating gives me a better grip. 40 oz. is hefty to just carry around but great for camping or chilling in the fridge.

great bottle, zero taste. The only gripe I have is that the lid squeeks a bit when screwing/unscrewing it since it's metal on metal. That shouldn't stop you from promoting the Goat though! I'm getting another!

Perfect Bottle for the car

By: Backcountry.com Employee
November 10, 2008

I have a few Kleen Canteens, but I keep my 40oz next to my bed and in my car for at hand hydration. The large capacity is essential for hydration. This puts SIGG or Nalgene in the dust.
