Our Backcountry.com Men's In Motion Gloves don't like to sit around. These lightweight softshell gloves breathe like crazy during long days in the backcountry and the Pittards Goatskin leather palm stands up to everything from ski edges to keg stands. Moderated temperature is the goal of every backcountry traveler and fortunate for you the In Motion Glove knows how to vent. The microfleece-backed softshell material concurrently wicks and vents moisture away from your hand when you work up a sweat—saving you from ridgetop-ice-cube hands at the end of your hike. Light and close-fitting, the In Motion Glove stretches and moves with you, and the reinforced leather patch along the index finger helps you keep a tight hold on poles or skis while you hike or negotiate the tram line.
Bottom Line: Yo-yo-friendly—and we're not talking about toys.
I bought them for spring skiing and haven't been disappointed so far. My hands generally sweat a lot as soon as I get warm, but these gloves seem to keep my hands cool. Construction seems like it's going to hold up well. I would recommend a smaller size than normal, I have large hands and bought an XL and they are almost too big. I would recommend them for spring skiing but probably not much colder than 15-20 degrees F.
I've reviewed them before but have a little more to say. These gloves are turning out to be completely bombproof! I've been using them lately to scramble up some steep rocky climbs in the cold and they're holding up like champs! After a few times of wearing them they start to really conform to your hands well. The leather, I'm sure, will wear out eventually but no signs yet even after 2 or 3 dozen climbs. Especially for the price these are amazing gloves! You'll love 'em!!!
Depends on if you're hands have descent circulation. They're not windproof enough for me on the bike. You may want to choose something that is windproof.
I love these gloves. They are awesome for a cold weather road bike ride, or just wearing around when it's chilly. I usually wear a large in gloves and I got a medium. The fingers are still a little long, but not so bad that it bugs me (and I'm picky). I do wish they had a little elastic and/or a cinch on the back of the wrist to tighten up the occasional slop, but at the end of the day, it's a rockin' glove.
They do the job but not the most comfortable for me, the little finger is long on me, I have rather large hands. The seams are a little bothersome when flexing my hand. I put a light liner on first and they are more comfortable
These gloves are great but ... they don't do very well in wet situations. I love the way they fit and like everyone said they hold up really nice. The leather is only on the index and middle finger and continues into the palm ... didn't quite understand that design decision, but as said before they get the job done.
The circumference of my hand is around 7.8". Since some reviews are claiming that the gloves run larger than expected, should I get a medium or a large? Also, what is the range of temperature suitable for the gloves? Thanks in advance!
I found these to have a descent amount of room but not enough to size down. Also, my hands always run cold, very cold! I use these down to the high 20's but that's the lowest I've been able to go. They're great gloves! I'm very, very happy with them.Hope that helps.
Wear them mostly for work, where lugging equipment out of cold vans. Leather palms are rugged and show no wear after weeks of use. Love the design with the extension at wrists. My hand measures right on for the Large, but glove seems a bit bigger than ideal. No big deal though. Overall a kickin glove for a Utah winter.
Great gloves! I have used them for a bit now for both skitouring, snowshoeing and other aerobic activities in alpine enviroments, and theu have performed great. So far they seem really durable. Good value prize too. It's true that they run a bit large, though.
Great glove. Windproof and, surprisingly waterproof (they've kept my hands warm and dry bike-commuting in Seattle this fall). Love the leather palm. They're sized very large, so order a size down.
I love these gloves! I've used them about everywhere.... Hiking, alpine climbing, chillin in the hills, skiing, cooking and the list can go on and on. They do fit just a hair tight at first but there were no worries after the first few outings. They've added extra layers of leather in areas that tend to get worn faster than others. They aren't short like a work glove either, which I really like. All in all I'd say that I'd have paid nearly double for them. They're getting tons of use and haven't shown the least bit of signs that they're wearing thin! Thanks for another great product Backcountry!
Very good materials. It´s a little bit too tight to put on, especially when your hand is wet. Not the thing you want to struggle with when your wet and cold. But when the gloves are on they fit perfect. Leather enhancements has different placing on the glove (differs like 0,5-1cm) which indicates a sloppy assembly.
These are awesome gloves for backcountry touring. Breathe well while keeping your hands warm and dry for aerobic winter pursuits. They also have nice leather palms with an abrasion resistant insert on the index finger and thumb areas. They do run a bit large, though, so I recommend getting them a size smaller than your usual size. I typically wear a medium glove and the small is my correct size.
I've taken this out on one tour and I'm impressed. Soft leather, stretchy softshell exactly what I've been looking for in a backcountry glove. It fits a tad big (long in the fingers).
this is a great glove for the wasatch! cold and clear mornings, skinning up a long track, these are great insulation, breathe well, and dexterous enough to rip skins off, buckle up, and descend.
After a few weeks of use, these gloves have proved to be with me at all times during these colder Utah months. In the mornings on bike rides to school, to heading down to the bars at night, these gloves keep my hands warm and dry. Please look at the sizing chart, for it is very accurate in regards to the size of the glove.
