Sweet? Creamed? Screw that. Backcountry.com's March Shirt of the Month gives props to the best corn of 'em all: spring. The Men's Fresh Spring Corn T-Shirt serves it up during those magical hours between bulletproof and mashed potatoes. A slim fit and organic cotton make sure this Limited Edition T-shirt keeps it real.
Shirt of the Month: For a limited time, Backcountry.com is kicking out a brand new shirt on the first of each month. These shirts feature organic cotton and customized graphics by local artists.
There's no joke here. This is the skinny:In the spring when the snow freezes overnight and then starts to soften up in the sun it is no longer a frozen surface of "ice" but resembles little granules of ice/snow as it starts to soften. The granules are about the size of a kernel of corn. Skiers refer to it as "buttery smooth corn" when it's just right, smoother than a groomed ski slope at a resort. Given the right temps and conditions during the day and overnight with a refreeze, the cycle could go on for days. However, there is a short window of time each year to be able to "harvest good corn".
Consider the fact that in Salt Lake (where Backcountry is based I am blessed to live/ski), we're still having storms blow in and spring skiing is pure bliss. Nothing like fresh spring corn…
the part that doesn't make sense is the 9am to noon.... that's what is so great about corn... you get to sleep in and wait for it like.... 11am to 3pm would be more like it... 'spose it could depend on the time of year...
Sleep in!? You've gotta start climbing at 6 or 7am to hit the top in time for the prime corn skiing! Around 10am or so I would say is ideal for most south-facing slopes. :-) I like the shirt but won't get it: I'm still in denial that winter is ending.
the organic cotton feels great. I wear a women's medium and men's small. So i got a men's small and it is a super slim fit cut. If it was not as fitted this shirt would be awesome. I don't dare go to a medium, or the sleeves will be too long and big. The length is great, feel is great. Maybe it will stretch out a little bit and I won't be shrinking it in the wash.
ahh fresh spring corn....I love shredding in the spring corn "slush"
