Don the Backcountry.com Creek Softshell Hat and exchange your nasty sweat-stain rings for stretchy, breathable awesomeness that is softshell material. This 4-way stretch softshell hat fits, feels, and wears better than your old cotton canvas lids and the Goat logo shows the love without trying too hard.
I like it! Yes it has the skatebord look, but sometimes it is fun to be different. What i like about this hat is when I am ski touring or ski mountaineering people do not think I just eat granola and oatmeal. Great material used to.
People who buy this hat and expect it to fit like a flex-fit cap are barking up the wrong tree. This hat is specifically designed to look a little "gangsta" and a little snowboarder chic (skeezy).
I got this hat for free from a competition so I didn't pick it, but it's really not a bad hat. Yes, it sits a little lower on my head. Yes, the flat bill looks a little ridiculous. But it took me about five minutes of flexing and I've now got the bill curved like a normal hat, it looks cool. The S/M fits me well and I've got a pinhead. Worn normally the bill sits just over my eyebrows, but tipped back a little bit it looks pretty good.
Don't buy the hat if you don't dig the skeezy look, or you aren't at least willing to put up with it (like I am).
I got a bigger head, 7 5/8. The L/XL and S/M doesn't really help me out too much with describing hat sizes. Does anyone know what size these actually are? The hat looks good, but I don't want to buy it if it's gonna be a tight squeeze or not fit at all.
I have a monster dome, i read the reviews about how this hat is bigger than normal... They were right, it does run big, and it fits great!!! I wear a 7 7/8's fitted hat. I bought the L/XL and it couldn't fit any better. Thanks backcountry.com!
Hate to do this, but the fit on this lid is just wack. I bought a S/M, and the top of it sits about an inch higher than a S/M flexfit hat, making it look ridiculous. I dunno if they used some dude with a huge dome for a model what, but I'll be sending this one back.
Agreed, it's pretty "wack". I hate to do it as well, but I'm sending mine back. I support the Backcountry gear, but this one is a buzz kill. Sorry BC :(
As you can see, I have manually shaped the bill to look like a normal hat. I also tilt it back a bit. The hat is definitely still big but not bucket-like as other reviewers have said.
I'm all about the goat gear... but like other's said, this hat just isn't right. The material is cool, but the fit is terrible, too tall. I wear the hell out of my Backcountry.com Goat Wool Flexfit Hat and wanted another and saw that it was no longer available, so I tried this. I would not recommend it. I'm sending mine back.
I'm with Darren on this on. The dome is just too damn tall, looks like you have a Cone-Peanut head when wearing this thing. It's nice material and looks like a cool design, just too deep BC.
I read some of the reviews below, and I really like the fabric and the shape.... The fabric is light and doesn't "crinkle" like other a cottons or canvas. Its nice and loose, with an everyday purpose. You can exercise in it without it being a soaking mess also. The shape is a bit more youthful, but I like to be able to flip it around and wear it backwards sometimes without feeling like I drive a monster truck.
Ok, first lets start with; Yes I know I work for Backcountry, I support the product team and everything they do they primarily do a great job with most product they push out, this hat however has a very awkward feel to it.
1. The Hat is too deep, it will go to your eyebrows so if you have a unabraw then this hat will dig with your style. 2. The Softshell is a great material for a Jacket not so much a hat, it tends to bunch up in the back (this is primarly because there is so much fabric not being filled up by the hat) My Welder Jacket is what I rock when it Rains not a hat. 3. The Goat stitching is a bit off (looks like a diagram to show you the diffrent meat cuts or muscles of our amazing mountain goat logo. 4. The Brim is HUGE, it creates this strange flair on the sides of the hat so the hat does't feel snug on the front of your head.
Well with all that said, if you have a tall head and like to rock the low riding hat then this is that hat for you. Again I love Backcountry product and I think it's some of the best out there, I was just not to impressed with this hat. Hopefully they will take these reviews and make the perfect hat for next season. Thanks!
there are two kinds of hats, and this one is a little different than either. the one kind is the curved brim, low volume hat. check out the TNF flex logo hat as an example. the other kind is the flat brim, more volume hat. check out the Burton ADL hat, made by new era. this Creek hat is like that, except is uses softshell materials thats used in other technical garments. check out this vid (creek is at 2:06), all sorts of hats in the world, try a different hat.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BrJpXFx-DnY
I'm going to be honest, this may be the worst product from backcountry products I've gotten. I love all my other goat gear, but the fit on this is ridiculous. I got a S/M, what I usually wear, and it fits almost loosly around my head, but that's nothing to complain about. The thing that gets me is the extra inch or so between the top of my head and the hat. At first I thought this was a manufacturing flaw, but I saw someone else had the same problem. Just no good unless you're a conehead.
