Backcountry.com Cocona No-Show Sock - 4 Pack

Forget fashioning a radio out of coconut shells and sea water, Professor. Try the Backcountry.com Cocona No-Show Sock. Cocona technology uses recycled coconut shells to naturally absorb odor and wick away moisture – just what you need to keep your feet dry and comfortable for yet another day on Gilligan's Isle. And because Cocona technology allows products to retain their stretch and washability, the Backcountry.com Cocona No-Show Sock will seem as new on Day 2,154 as the day you spun them from your bamboo loom.

Bottom Line: Excuse me, Ginger, may I borrow your coconut bra?

Super!

By:

I have had a pair of the ankle high cocona socks for a couple of years. The material performs really well...used for mtb and trail running. I've yet to wear through a pair through regular use and washing/drying. Super durable. A super solid alternative to merino wool. Bring back the ankle high and people won't have the slippage issue.

Good sock with some flaws

By:
November 21, 2008

A great looking sock that's comfortable. I'm used to the merino wool but the cocona is a great alternative. Flaws: I'm in agreement with others, this sock is much more prone to sliding down on your heel than any other sock I've owned. I'm not sure what about the design causes that, but it can be very annoying. I have also seen some premature wearing in some areas, which leads me to believe these socks won't hold up as long as merino does. Overall a good sock though, and worth the price.

Trees and streams don't care about socks.

By:
December 8, 2008

There's nothing wrong with going with the Cocona over the Merino wool socks that this site also offers. However, go with the regular trial socks rather than these no-show. Sure, they look a little better, but when they start to slide down your heel in the middle of the hike, the blisters will not be no-show.

Slides down

By:
January 7, 2009

These have a nice feel and don't show, but they kept sliding down my patagonia shoes and I would have to stop and fix them periodically. Finally, I stopped wearing them, since my patagonias were comfortable enough w/o socks.

Well, one reviewer said that the L/XL fits him perfectly and he is a 10.5. Larges usually fit 9-11 or so and medium is around 6-8. However, Pearl Izumi fits 5-8 as small, 9-11 medium, and 12+ as large.

My favorite athletic socks

By:
September 27, 2009

These are by far my favorite pair of athletic socks. I use them for just everyday use, like anytime I'm wearing sneakers. I use them at the gym. I use them when I go running, play tennis, basketball, etc. They fit great, keep my feet cool and dry, they are comfortable, and they don't absorb odor. What more can you ask for in a sock. As far as them sliding down on your foot, I haven't noticed that personally. However, I do wear fairly tight shoes, and I always make sure to pull them high enough so my heel is in the contoured heel pocket of the sock. Get a pair, you won't be disappointed.

Just recently bought these and they are very soft. Also like the dark color for not showing the dirt. fit great and are very breathable.

These socks stay incredibly dry. They are also incredibly comfortable. More comfortable than cotton socks, and that's saying quite a bit.

Downside: they are somewhat pricey and yeah, they tend to slip a little.

They definitely don't stink worse than socks made of synthetic material.

Love 'em

By:
March 26, 2009

Odor protection is great. Fit, feel, and look are all good. They are a little thinner than I would prefer, but they were designed to be a thin running sock. They are expensive but I am really happy with the purchase.

Very Comfortable

By:
November 7, 2008

These socks are very soft. I wear a size 13 and bought L/XL and they fit well. They can slide down a little if you don't pull them up all the way. Overall the price was worth it. They seem comparable to smartwool or wigwam socks.

Great Material, Bad Shape Cocona No-Show Sock

By: Backcountry.com Employee
August 15, 2008

I've used these socks probably a dozen times since I purchased them. I love the material, lightweight, sturdy, doesn't accumulate 'stink'. I've used them for trail running and just wearing everyday.

However, the fatal flaw of these socks is the cut of the ankle line - lower in the back then in the front. Due to the fact that the back of the sock is super low, every pair of running shoes I have goes higher then the sock. This causes really bad chafing (perhaps due to the edge of the fabric being below the top of the shoe). After one 8 mile run the chafing was so bad that the skin over my achilles was bleeding... That's when I decided that these socks just don't cut it for running.

Backcountry.com Cocona No-Show Sock: very light weight and wicks moisture well

By: Backcountry.com Employee
August 15, 2008

My Backcountry.com Cocona No-Show Socks have served me well with cycling and trail running duty. Very light weight and they wick moisture well. I generally use heavier and slightly higher-cut socks, but have found these to be superior for keeping cool and dry without missing the extra padding. The L/XL fits men's size 10.5 (USA) perfectly. And the odor suppression works!

Overall great sock, but a little short on the cut.

By:
March 23, 2009

Don't get me wrong, I love these socks. I've been slowly replacing all of my cotton socks with Cocona because they're just that awesome.

But these no shows are shorter than I'd like in the back, as you've probably already figured out from the other reviews.

Most of the time they don't slide down but every once in a while they do and it's annoying.

Overall great socks though.

DryDryDry

By:
October 2, 2008

After a wash these things are dry before I even get them out of the spin cycle! Durable and comfortable, just wish they fit lower in the front and a little higher in the back. Better than cotton any day of the week.

Backcountry.com Cocona No-Show Sock

By: Backcountry.com Employee
October 17, 2008

One of my favorite things is getting home from running and smelling my socks. I just like the nasty smell and will quickly offer the scent to anyone within the vicinity of me. I really like how these socks perform but I can no longer enjoy the smell- no thanks to the carbon from coconut shells. The upside is they don't slide around on your foot and bunch up in your shoe and they dry quick. These also feel like a dress sock on your feet or like when you borrow your sisters tights-except nobody gives you any funny looks. These socks are goooooood.

Great socks, no issues

By:
July 2, 2009

So I bought these despite the warnings about the heel-sliding issues and I haven't regretted that decision all spring and early summer. I do quite a bit of running, trail running, hiking and biking with them, and I haven't had a single instance of them slipping down my heel. I wear a shoe size of 11 so I bought the size L/XL. They last more than a few runs before any signs of smell, and they also wick away moisture better than any other socks I have owned. I will be buying some more soon and will definitely be using these for my next marathon, thanks BC guys and gals, once again you have produced a great product!

Oh yeah.

By:
May 29, 2009

They feel great on, dry super fast and don't stink the next day. What more could I ask for? Was a little concerned reading other reviews about the sliding-down issue since it's happened to me with other socks, but was pleasantly surprised to have gone through all 4 pairs once each without a problem so far. Ladies, if you wear size 7.5 - 8 shoes like me, you'll be fine with the S/M.

I love these socks because they somehow keep my feet dry and stink free even when working or at the gym. Plus it has an awesome goat logo right on it, pretty good conversation starter.

I like da socks.

By: Backcountry.com Employee
December 1, 2008

I really like these socks, they work as they say, and keep my feet dry, especially compared to the my normal cotton socks. They have a feel similar to a dress sock in that they aren't super thick and they seem so grip your foot a lot better than the inside of the shoe

Great alternative to merino

By: Backcountry.com Employee
November 17, 2008

I SWEAR by my Backcountry.com merino products, but these socks leave my merino ones in the dresser. The ankle cut is awesome for the gym and so is the odor resistance.

Super Socks

By: Backcountry.com Employee
August 15, 2008

I wear these socks trail running, biking, and in the office and they are the bomb-diggity. They pull out the moisture, don't get funky, and are super comfy. This was my first pair with the coconut tech stuff and I'm sold.
