Backcountry.com Chalice Stainless Steel Bottle

Fill the single-wall Backcountry.com Chalice Stainless Steel Bottle with your favorite refresher, screw on the plastic, lid tight, and get to your business—minus spill paranoia. This electrolyte charged and dolomitic sand blasted stainless steel vessel won’t carry the flavor of last night’s celebratory beverage, and the food-grade polypropylene rim keeps you from ending up stuck to the Chalice when the temps drop. The Chalice’s wide-mouth lid threading fits most water filters.

Bottom Line: Stay hydrated.

Two questions:
1)It's not the 18/8 steel that's got me worried about flavor remembrances, it's the polypropylene-- does the top part get da funk? How much more likely is that part to grow microbial friendlies than the rest of the bottle?

2)I assume this is compatible with the Katadyn Hiker water filter, but I'd hate to assume too much. Anyone know for sure?

You can, it's just that they're single-wall so if you fill it with hot liquid, the bottle itself will get very hot.

I recently bought three of these on sale for 9.99. Seems like a great deal except for two of them have an oblong shape on top where the threads are. This makes for difficult times when screwing down and leakage. Not well constructed in the most important part.

This item cannot be used with hot liquids. So don't plan to fill it with your favorite hot tea or cocoa out on the trail.
