Backcountry.com Beater Limited Edition T-Shirt - Short-Sleeve - Men's - 2008

The Backcountry.com Men's Beater T-Shirt … We've all watched some guy in a Starter jacket and jeans take a digger on the moguls, and have marveled at that lady in the eye-piercing neon one-piece (with fanny pack) as she made glorious S-turns on the groomers. This limited edition Backcountry.com T-shirt pays homage to that awesomeness with its simply stated screen print. Sport Science constructed this shirt for us with proprietary fabric that feels like cotton, yet performs like a premium synthetic.

Shirt of the Month: For a limited time, Backcountry.com is kicking out a brand new shirt on the first of each month. These shirts feature soft materials and customized graphics by local artists … or in this case, ironical statements from mountain elitists.

Bottom Line: It's called “irony,” people.

"Beater" is another term for what we call "Texas skiers" or "Oklahomans." You know, the folks who stay in a $1,000 per night condo at the resort but ski in jeans, Cowboys sweatshirts, baseball caps, and the cheapest Salomon rental gear they can find. Or, if they actually own gear, it's of identical vintage to the old Kastle and Olin boards nailed to the wall above the fireplace in the resort bar.

How's the fit? 90% of the time a large will fit me. The Avaluancher fit perfect. The Indian Creek Limited Edition T-Shirt ran too tight in large and I had to give it to a friend....

XL is true to size. Very stretchy and didn't shrink upwards in the torso when I dried it.

The Name Says It all

Beater - the old clunker that you keep around cause of the memories and it has always been there for ya. Thye shirt could describe the wearer or a memory. The material is very nice and wicks moisture well. The sizing runs true to form. The shirt is lime green which was a big stretch for me but has become one of my favs. Because of the color the shirt shows moisture quite a bit.

The Beater is neater

By:
October 20, 2008

A 4 star piece, because nothing can ever compare to the latest and greatest fabric in my life, merino wool. 4 stars becuase it's better to sweat in than cotton (but not better than Cap 1), feels really nice and comfy, and even my wife just HAD to know what "beater" meant. Thanks for including the explanation card BC!

you'll grab it every time

By:
July 17, 2008

the sport science fabric blend is super comfortable and it generally becomes a great but awkward conversation piece at the bar, i grab it from the pile every time it's clean. it'll be my favorite until they bring back the gear slut shirts so i can grab one (please?)...

It's like the old clunker car you drive around in. "The Beater" Only this is a shirt you can clunk around in.1. You on a powder day with waxless skis that don't slide2. Your wife carrying her skis "bundle o' wood" style3. Bubba from Lubbock4. Pejorative term for someone who rides without proper gear; i.e., tries to make do with their Levis jean jacket and tear away athletic pants w/ sweatpants underneath. :)5. a crappy skier

One very nice shirt. Shipping was wicked fast, this site continues to provide the best service. But the shirt, surprisingly light, comfortable, love the color and the phrase as most people are going to wonder what it means. Great shirt and I hope to see more unique ones each month.

I heart beaters.

By:
December 1, 2008

I bought this shirt for my fiance in hopes that he would ski a little more like a beater. Instead he uses it as an underlayer in the backcountry and loves it. The medium is a bit smaller than a "normal" medium, but it's still wicked cool and hilarious. Please make a girl version!

Enigmatic T

By:
July 9, 2008

As comfortable as an 'ol beater pick-up is to drive; this t-shirt is a comfy complement to jeans or cut-offs. Sure leaves people wondering what the heck it means, though. I have started making new explanations up for every uneasy inquiry... Great shirt, soft and comfy and shipped in a heartback - when's the next one comin out?

Beater, a term of endearment

By:
October 25, 2008

Amazingly comfortable fabric. And Beater says it all. The idiots on the mountain with the jeans and starter jacket. Or the coat flapping in the wind as they hold their power tuck on a blue run. Or you can be a beater yourself when you are wasted and impersonating the S.P.O.R.E. you blast past in your own power tuck straightlining the mountains steepest trail.

Beater. A word to live by.

This shirt is classic. Comfortable, fits well and pays tribute to the skiers we all love to hate. See the beater, be the beater. Respect the beater.

This comfy shirt is great on the trail and off. The Sports Science fabric is soft and comfy and wicks perspiration well. And yeah, now I can finally say with pride, that I too am a beater.

Team Beater

Just got this one and I'm totally digging it. Great for climbing, biking, running, etc. It's soft, wicks well and so far resists the stink pretty good. Just a good feeling shirt. Other people seem to think it's funny and cool. I'm 6'0" and 158lb and the Large fits perfect. I happen to drive a beater and for the most part am one on skis, so it's perfect for me.
