A favorite of advancing freeriders and anyone on a budget, Burton's Moto Snowboard Boot proves that you don't have to break the bank to get quality performance. This boot offers time-tested basics to riders looking for trickle-down top-end construction. Burton gave the Moto a new lacing system that locks your foot in with one quick pull of the single lace cable. The Moto's two-part outsole is soft enough to cushion landings but gives you the sensitivity you want underfoot for sliding rails or even just learning to ride. The unique shell design, featuring anatomical wrapping, gives the Moto superior hold that keeps your boot snug from the top of the boot down. - Fall 2008.
Bottom Line: Burton boots that won't evaporate your bankroll.
I picked up last years model - and have put about 30 full days in them. To start, the single lace cable system works well. There is an upper zone that goes from the ankle up the shin, and a lower zone covering the top of the foot. You are able to get a nice custom fit, and I never need to re-adjust after I first put them on. Nothing has broken/fallen off/malfunctioned all year and look forward to this season in them. Only drawback I'd say is that it is a stiffer boot, if you are looking for a new shoe for a freestyle setup - choose another.
No, Cody... If you are a true 13 on a measuring device, get a 13, not larger. In snowboarding, you definitely do not want big boots, if anything most people get them on the small side. (less toe/heel drag)
Also, if your foot moves around, you will either fatigue your body from your foot always cramping up from trying to grapple the bottom of the boot. Or, you'll be swishing around so much that your toe will jam forward to the front of the boot on toe side turns giving you some gnarly bruises.
My advice, true 13 rocks a true 13 (or a 12.5 if you want to rock foot bondage a bit :) After a while the boots will pack out a quarter of a size.
I would try as hard as possible to try the size on before you buy it. A lot of times people will make the mistake of buying shoes online that don't fit properly. The fact is, you should buy a size 13 or even a 12.5 since after a few days of shredding the boot liner will pack out about a half size.
had to order another size..,so, make sure you get next 1/2 size or full size bigger. Item runs small.. other then that boot fits snug and supports ankle great for normal shredding..
I really don't have anything negative to say about these boots. They have always kept my feet warm and dry, they are stiff enough to allow me to carve easily, and once you get used to them, they are very easy to put on and take off due to the speed lace system. You really can't beat these boots for the price - it makes me curious as to why people shell out $300+ for other boots when these work very well.
I got these boots for both of my boys ages 11 and 14. Their feet are growing crazt fast these days so I didn't want to drop huge bucks on some boots they will outgrow in a season or two. They are both very happy with the Moto's. Took about 2 days for one the boots to break-in and be comfortable for my younger son. Good boot for the price.
Well made boot... comfortable and easy to tighten quickly. Wore them boarding four days straight right out of the box and no sore feet! Really like the single lace cable to tighten up and easy on your hands with a leather 'pull' that keeps the cable from killing your fingers.
i found they ran small, so i had to return them and get a larger pair, not a big deal, because the season was already over here in Korea b4 i orderd them anyway, ill get to shred with them next year..
yes in my experience they run very true to size, and pack out a little (about 1/4 a size)...and yes, they have an unliited unconditional retun policy...just keep the box and the tags and the box it was SHIPPED in, and then you can pre print out a shipping label from this site and drop it off at any ups store...cost to you is 7 bucks!!!! thats it!!! :-)..best return policy ive ever seen
Great entry-level boot, comfortable after pack-out and warm, stiff enough to control an entry/intermediate board on the slopes rather than just the park with good bindings. The speed lacing system is a little wonky: once you figure out the best way to tighten / lock them they work great and get you out of the lodge fast as possible, but if you're careless the cables can come loose on the lift / hill. On the plus side you can tighten them easily with gloves on, so it's an easy fix.
I havent used them yet, but everything is well made. Tough materials, tough stitching, strong lacing system. My first impression of the speed zone system was that i would rip it off trying the boots on, but it was amazingly solid. Im a novice boarder, so the speed will certainly help, as will ability to adjust on the mountain. Seems pretty true to show sizes, i wear a 12 shoe and the size 12 boot fits perfectly with a pair of merino wool socks.
It does have dual zone speed lacing but it is all controlled on one side. So if you pull on the front on the one handle it tightens the bottom and if you pull on the back it tightens the upper zone.
My feet are weird - 9.5 is a little too snug on one foot, and 10 is a little too loose for the other. But I'm new to the sport so I went smaller. All the rentals I ever used were 10 and had laces, so the pull system was new to me, but the boots NEVER came loose or undone and never needed to be tightened. Once they're on, they're on.
i am looking for some boots for my boyfriend for xmas and i know he'll love these and hes seen them. how much bigger a size do i need to get and if he doesnt like them can i send them back?
Great pair for a beginner and you can't bet the price. First time I tried these one they were the worst fitting pair I have tried; user error. After adequately loosening the lace and fit with snowboard sock they were great. Dislike the fact that there is no lace hole on the ankle section, that would make them pretty snug. Having difficulties tightening the lower zone, again that angle lacing hole would really help. However, for a beginner those same deficiency will prevent you from getting sprain or broken ankle on a bad spill. All that said, they keep my feet warm every on the closets days. So far, we've had -12 to -24 degree and I didn't have to worry about feet getting cold once. Again for the price, these are great boots for beginners on a budget.
I just started snowboarding, so I don't have much experience with different boots. These feel great and are easy to slip on and off. However, the complaints about the lacing system not staying tight are true. it's not a major issue, you just have to tighten them every couple of runs. I would recommend these, you can't beat the price.
For the price, I found this to be a damn fine boot! The break in period was about a two day stretch. I am normally a 9.5/10 (regular shoes), but needed a 10.5 in these guys.
The first day I had to keep stopping and re-tightening them. I have not had hem fitted, which may alleviate some of the issues I had.
They were super easy to walk in and the straps were as easy as can be imagined. Seemed difficult to get them SUPER tight, if you wanted them that way!
Worked good with the Custom bindings as well! Certainly were a great beg/int boot. They flexed a little, but to be expected on a lower end boot.
Great boots from Burton. They are comfy, supportive, stiff. I got them in black...kinda regretting not getting them in green/white/black. But great boots nonetheless.
pretty sick boot. speed lace system is very easy to use and doesn't come undone. it takes about 8-10 hours of use to start to conform to your foot. so before that your little toe is probably going to fall asleep or your calf will start hurting. after that it fits like a glove
