Burton AK 2L LZ Down Jacket - Men's

The Burton Men's AK 2L LZ Down Jacket gives you Himalayan-style warmth and Gore-Tex guaranteed waterproofing. Even on the nastiest days, two-layer Gore-Tex Performance Shell material is guarantee to keep you dry, and high-loft goose down locks in your heat so you stay toasty. Burton gave the LZ Down Jacket its Sig Fit, which doesn’t drown in fabric, but doesn’t emo you out either. Underarm zips help regulate your temperature, while the waist gaiter and pant-to-jacket interface lock out snow. - Fall 2008.

Bottom Line: Harsh winters don't make a dent in the Burton AK 2L LZ Down Jacket.

So I bought this jacket not necessarily for snowboarding but more for its combination of down plus gortex. When I received the jacket I noticed there is not a large amount of down in it and it is overall thinner than I expected. It is not cold enough here yet for a good field test so I'm wondering: Will this coat stand up well against significantly cold weather for extended periods even if you are not being significantly active?

Big, snowboarding-style (obviously) jacket

In a search for a cheaper version of the Patagonia Primo Down Jacket or the Cloudveil Koven Plus Down, I turned to the Burton AK 2L when it popped up on Brociety for $199. A steal by all means and a killer jacket for someone looking for a looser fitting version of the two aforementioned pieces.

I was crossing my fingers that this wasn't going to be too roomy, but it looks like even at a size Small I think this one will have to go back. I wear a size Small in Cloudveil gear and float between Small and Medium with Patagonia.

Regardless, it's a well-crafted jacket with some really nice features that will keep any East Coast skier warm, dry and happy all winter long. Clearly this is a 4 or 5 star jacket if you're looking for a larger fit.

I would say go with the large. The burton AK stuff isnt cut large because its more performance orientated. I am 6'2 myself and I would buy a L or XL. For sure dont go with medium it will be too small.

Hey Pierre - I'm from Calgary, owned this jacket for 3+ years, best jacket ever... spent a night in the Sunshine backcountry blizzard on the side of a hill in it, and was just fine for warmth... only caution: order a size smaller than you usually get, I received an XL of the new model when I sent my old one back for a zipper problem, and it's absolutely gigantic on me!!!

Ripping jacket, warm and dry

By:
February 12, 2009

Great jacket. Gore tex, windproof, warm. Great in colder climates like utah, jackson and montana. And of course AK.

great pockets, light weight jacket for the warrmth and long sleeves and drop skirt. Can snug up up all ssections and laugh at below zero powder while eveyone else runs.

It is big, I normally wear a L and got medium. But it fits great. Dont fear the price, worth every penny.

Oh, hit a few tree branches, no signs of wear, durable

Way too big

By:
January 9, 2009

I ordered size S, but had to return because Burton AK size S jacket is bigger than other brands' size L. Otherwise the jacket is good.

If the continuum fits you snug in a Medium then I would suggest going with that same size.

The hood is suppose to be able to work with a helmet. Unless you're lid is really big you should be good to go.This jacket is way too warm for hikes, unless you're hiking in massively cold weather.
