Zip up the Burton Men’s AK 3L Continuum Jacket and dive into the deepest pow, or tackle the trickiest terrain park. Burton gave the 3L Continuum a Gore-Tex shell and fully taped the seams to keep moisture out and take on the trees without ripping. Burton’s seam-welded construction eliminates the need for stitching and thread, creating an ultra-light barrier against the elements. Burton gave the Continuum a Sig Fit for baggy style that doesn't get in your way when you bust your method and looks fresh when you grab a brew at the lodge. - Fall 2008.
Bottom Line: Swift and clean as a shiny new rocket.
totally waterproof, even in slush. zip up face protector and helmet compatible hood work great together - no need for a gaiter.
i also have the AK 3L Hover pants so when zipped together, this setup is totally waterproof.
although i love this jacket, the zippers are really hard to use and are getting stuck. i actually had to send the first jacket back because it arrived with many of the teeth separated (so that I couldn't even unzip the jacket to try it on).
If you look really carefully at the zipper, there is actually a pull trigger that you need to engage with the zipper pull to get it to slide. Doing that is not easy and the design sometimes makes it impossible - the trigger is already weakened so that it doesn't activate even when pulled on.
I've only worn it 5 days at Snowbird and 4 days in Tahoe. there are times when I simply can't unzip the darn thing.
Lastly, the jacket has already torn a tiny slit-hole on the front pocket section. Have no idea how that happened given I was riding in 3 feet of fresh at Snowbird and only spring conditions in Tahoe - no rock rubs or impacts.
Which style of JAcket is Back Country shipping. I want the Rider Fit, not the Sig Fit or the Slim Fit. I tried on this jacket at a local shop (They wanted full price) and the Sig Fit just isn't big enough for me (I tried on an XL).
?....diferent jakcets come in diferent fits, there arent 3 different fits per jacket...if you are looking for the TEAM fit, the most baggy one, they you have to look for ronin or any burton jacket with more progressive styling...this one is sig fit and sig fit only
Just got the jacket it in, havent road in them yet, but from what it seems like, it looks like a great jacket. My only concern is that under the pits, it seems the bunch up. minus that its great
yeah you can definitly wear this softshell by itself, its made out of goretex softshell...goretex softshell is every bit as waterproof/windproof/breathable as gore tex pro shell or pefromance shell, and its actually better in my opinion since its warmer than just plain old gore tex shells
First wear today in Mammoth after a 2' dump with wind and blowing snow. Great fit, pockets, hood is perfect for fit and visability, interior pocket perfect size for my Tracker and the cuffs/velcro sized perfect for going over my gloves. Also the deal at Backcountry beat my pro-deal!!! I've had my Burton AK 3L pants for 4 seasons and I expect this jacket will do the same!
I just picked up this Jacket the other day for an amazing deal. I am more writing this review for people who are looking for size rather than function. Any Gore-Tex jacket from a reputable company will deliver what they promise and this Burton Jacket is no exception. I ordered a size small. I had to go to a store and try it on to make sure before I ordered it. I usually wear a Medium. I am 5ft 10in and 155lbs. The Sig fig is great. I wore it with a fleece pullover and still had room. Yeah I am not a big guy, but this sizing of these jackets are way different than typical jackets. If you like things way oversized, it may not be the size for you if we have comporable stats, but I think there is plently of room and length still. Jacket is light weight and although I have yet to wear it out on the mountain, I feel confident that it will be real waterproof/windproof. I love Burton gear. With my AK Gore-Tex pants I have had for 5 years, I won't see any water seeping in any of my gear. Hope this helps.
