The Black Diamond Women's Mercury Mitt keeps your hands warm in the worst winter storm, ensuring you have the dexterity to set up your tent quickly, so you can get out of the weather. With a combination of Polartec Thermo Pro and PrimaLoft insulation, the Mercury Mitt is perfect when the mercury drops. The fully waterproof shell keeps moisture out, and a leather palm with Kevlar stitching provides durability to withstand harsh use. The removable liner is quick drying and has a trigger finger to make setting up the tent and lacing your boots easy. With a narrower palm and longer finger area, the Women's Mercury Mitt will actually fit you instead of feeling like a stocking hat on your hand.
Bottom Line: A warm, versatile mitten that fits a woman's hand perfectly.
I really liked these gloves, but they were way too big. The size chart suggested a small. It turned out that was way too big. I would go a size smaller than recommended. I ordered the xs and they are great! Can't wait for them to keep my hands toastie this year!
These mittens are incredibly warm. My hands get cold easily in low temperatures so I was so happy to find that these mittens keep my hands warm and toasty in extremely cold conditions. Per the earlier reviewer's comment though these do run BIG; I usually wear a S but purchased the XS and found this still to be slightly large but given that they were so warm I decided to keep them.
This mitten is an excellent solution for those with hands that get cold. I use them for snowmobiling and cold (after lunch) afternoons on the slopes. It does run big - I bought a women's medium and I normally wear a large or xl. The size chart is true to size. My husband has had his for over a year and they are still as good as new. No show of wear.
I just went out in single digit weather with these new mitts and I have reynauds which is terrible circulation and I was removing the gloves after each run because I was so hot. Incredible. Never have I wanted take my gloves off in anything less then 40 degrees. They are perfectly comfy inside and the gauntlet is pretty long and the fleece lining comes pretty high so I never had powder falling inside when getting up out of the snow. FYI I'm a skiier.
I live in Vail and the toes or the fingers are where I get cold first when I ski. I lost my Grandoe mittens that I had found in a lost and found bin at work a couple years ago. Didn't know how great the Grandoe's were until I replaced them with some $40 mittens that were really not great, then someone told me to buy the Black Diamond and I'd love them. They certainly look like they would be great, but Grandoe is by far the warmer of these two brands and I've worn a few ski mittens in my day.
These are awesome gloves. they keep you warm in the harshest conditions. I always freeze my butt off when Im skiing, but now there are no more excuses for cold hands. I've had 8 pairs of gloves in the past 10 seasons, and these are by far the best!! The idiot cord is very helpful adjusting in the pow or taking pics.
These mitts seemed super warm, and are all fuzzy and cozy inside. However, I returned them in favor of The North Face Full Circle Down Mittens because they were pretty big and bulky. The gaiter of the extra small almost came up to my elbows, whereas TNF stops a little past the wrist. Well, my mistake, because I was longing for the Mercurys, despite their size, when it was -11 at ABasin a few weekends ago. TNF Full Circle was just not warm enough for negative temps.
These gloves let me bike on nasty, below 20-degree Pittsburgh winter days - my only complaint is that I sacrifice a bit of dexterity with their bulk. But I'd rather ride semi-clumsily than not at all!
I bought these for my wife. The women's XS should really be a women's Medium. Don't buy these if you have a small hand. Otherwise they look like good quality.
FINALLY, i am warm. At first i thought they were going to be too much mitt for even holding a pole, but not so. i can hold the poles fine. they are super warm and i like the index finger slot inside the mitt. gives you just a little bit more control - the concept works. i bought a medium and they are great. i thought they would be too big based on other reviews, but they are actually perfect. i would say they run about 1 size big. if you have cold hands all the time, get these. you will finally be warm too!
