Black Diamond Speed Backpack - 1709-2014 cu in - 2007

Load your minimalist gear into the Black Diamond Speed Backpack when you need to move fast to make it up and off your climb in a single day. Whether you're on a ridgeline traverse, 12-pitch ice climb, or grade VI rock route, the Speed's ultralight SilNylon construction and extremely minimalist design keep you moving. Its 2lb 5oz weight can be cut down to an incredibly low 1lb 8oz (28L size) by removing the bivy pad back-panel and single aluminum stay. This Black Diamond pack comes in 28L and 33L sizes to provide you with the perfect amount of volume for whatever ultralight day trip you're on. Both sizes have a narrow profile to keep them from interfering with your arms as you climb.

Bottom Line: The Black Diamond Speed is the pack of choice for climbers who never start a route without a watch.

Careful

Make sure you are aware that the 28 L is for shorter torsos and the 33 L is for longer torsos. I was unaware of this and tried to get away with a smaller lighter pack, however the pack was just too short for me. Luckily Backcountry.com is great and handled my return of the 28 L and subsequent purchase of the 33 L quickly and hassle free. The pack itself is top notch.

Perfect for a day in the City

By:

This pack has a great fit and is light weight. At 6'3", it is sometimes hard to find a smaller pack that fits well. This one does the trick. This pack has plenty of room for all the gear needed for a day in the City.

Speedy!

This pack is super light and fits me incredibly well. It transfers the load very nicely to my hips and fits my shorter torso even though I picked the 33L variety. This has always fit my rope, trad gear, harness, 2 shoes, chalkbag and whatever else I want to bring with me for a day at the crag.

Great Light Pack

Black Diamond did a great job at getting this pack light and still including all the features you need for speed ascents or touring. It is super light and durable, with a low profile that doesn’t get in the way while climbing or skiing. Great fast pack!

I am new to the climbing realm, and this pack has been perfect for carrying my gear for a day on the rock. It supports weight extremely well, never placing too much pressure on your shoulders. Always plenty of room for my gear and then some.
