Black Diamond O3 Telemark Binding - 2005

The Black Diamond O3 Telemark Binding focuses on versatility and tourability. This binding incorporates a one-piece, stainless steel toe plate that entirely surrounds the boot's toe to provide maximum power transfer from boot to ski. Cable exits on the toe plate are positioned further forward than those of the new O2, providing less resistance on the uphill. The O3's toe plate is integrated with a reinforced anti-stick riser that provides a secure, ice-free connection to the ski. This riser is a variable-height design, allowing the boot to sit naturally and reducing unwanted tip pressure in powder conditions. The O3 is fitted with Black Diamonds Freeflex cartridge, which provides the least amount of resistance available, making it ideal for touring and lighter skiers. K2 Insert compatible. Sold with one climbing wire. If you plan to use Scarpa boots, the O3 fits ALL Scarpa boot sizes.

Bottom Line: If you're a dedicated backcountry skier, the O3 is easy as pie on the uphill.

Best telemark binding

I'd say this is the best designed telemark binding out there. The toe plate holds your boot really snugly (more so than other bindings). The cartridges have just the right tension and I like how they go under your foot.

Perfect Match with BD Havocs!!!

Being used to longer, skinnier telemark skis, I found myself over-compensating the first few runs before discovering I needed only the slightest amount of pressure to initiate turns. When coupled with stiffer bindings, they provided an edge control allowing me to negotiate turns much more rapidly than on my old skis. I was able to blow through chop while still retaining control. When there’s fresh powder, they’re an absolute skiing delight!
