Black Diamond Mercury Mitten - Women's

Designed for sub-zero days in the mountains, the Black Diamond Women’s Mercury Mitten keeps your digits warm and dry thanks to its BDry waterproof insert and 10 ounces of synthetic insulation. A trigger finger on the removable liner adds dexterity in or out of the shell, and BD attached the goat leather palm with Kevlar stitching to give you a secure, durable grip.

Bottom Line: Shield your hands from cold mountain weather with the Mercury Mitten.

I bought these gloves for a winter trip to Yellowstone National Park. These were absolutely warm enough. The problem I had was the trigger finger removable liner kept getting bunched up on the inside. I also tried to wear these mittens with a very thin liner...not enough room. I'm glad I had them, I like them but they are NOT perfect. There is also this VERY long elastic string on just one of the gloves around the wrist. I don't know what that was for. There was already ways to attach the gloves to jackets and each other...I didn't get it...and found it annoying. I plan to cut that string off if I can't find a good explanation for its existence.

Yummy

I bought these last year based on the reviews. I have always suffered from cold hands when skiing until these gloves. Most days I don't even bother with a glove liner now. My hands frequently sweat on days when it's below freezing. They're way to warm for spring skiing, though I have just taken the inside liner out and worn the shell.

I usually buy womens' size large in gloves because I have long fingers. I have the mediums in these and there's plenty of room. I can even wear them with a thicker glove liner.

Moderate warmth

By:
January 22, 2010

After wearing them for two weeks now, I would say these are warm mittens but honestly for those people like me who has constantly cold hands in the winter I don't think they are as warm as claimed by Black Diamond that these would be good for -20 F. I have warm hands because I wear these for jogging. So I still need to continue searching for warm mittens that will provide the warmth when I was out in the cold walking in the 20 F temp or colder.

Best Ever Mittens

By:
January 11, 2010

I ski front, side, and backcountry and have always had a problem with my hands getting cold until I found this mitten. I think they are true to size. I wear a glove liner inside them for handling gear. They are extremely versatile. In the backcountry, I often use the inner mitt with glove liner for climbing and add the outer mitt for the descents. The double mitt also gives you the option to pull the liners and dry them out between adventures. I couldn't be happier. This is my second pair only because I lost the first pair. I got the women's large this time and the men's medium the first time. The men's medium was slightly larger. I like the women's color especially because it enables me to identify them easily from my husband's black ones. (He loves his too although he only uses them in extremely cold conditions.) They seem very durable. All this said, they are a bit bulky, but seem like they have to be for the amount of warmth they provide.

This mitten is very warm, but I don't like the finger grip. Having an isolated finger doesn't keep it warm.

Warm Mitten

By:
January 2, 2010

I always have very cold hands. My fingers would be in pain in matter of minutes when out in the cold when the mercury dips below freezing. After trying many gloves in the past, I finally found these and they are great! These are warm, we walked the dog in the single digit today with windchill factor below that and my hands are warm. These run big, I have the size xs and I could fit my knit gloves in them.

These do run big

By:
January 14, 2010

These do run big.......so far they look like they got pretty good quality but I had to go and look for a polyester glove from my drawer ro make it fit better...I am taking them to skit at Breckenridge in a couple of weeks and we'll see how warm they really are....

i am not getting my hopes up, i am the type of person that gets freeing cold hands and feet, even in the summer...so i am hoping that by remaining active and with these gloves my hands don't start hurting

gloves for the everyone

By:
December 17, 2009

I have the men's mittens and bought these for my wife. These gloves are incredibly warm. The description does mention it... but be aware that there is a separate area for your pointer finger. You can still just keep all four fingers in the same area if you want. They are a bit big for driving and I occasionally set off the windshield wipers. The inside mitten is waterproof too so you don't need to take the shell if your trying keep weight down.
