I got the momentum package when i started climbing 3 years ago. The harness is a solid design, and i see no reason to upgrade even after 3 summers of mild use. The new version here is even better then the one i have. Perfect for someone who wants to get into climbing, highly recommend it!

I really like the harness the very well put togeather the chalk bag that came with mine is very nice not a fan of how big the opening will do but it'll work for me. The harness the atc and caribeaner and chalk bag all match is cool in my eyes.

This is probably one of the best package purchases out there for the novice/beginner. The harness is sturdy, durable, comfortable, and easy to use. As a bonus the harness does have an anchor/haul loop in the back which is a huge plus. The biner is the usual great BD quality, the ATC it functional and works like it is intended to, although I usually use a figure 8 (personal preference). The chalk bag and shot are practical, although I really wish BD would include a 1" wide nylon strap with a buckle or something so I don't have to waste a biner clipping this to a loop. Yes, it comes with a short tie, but really that just isn't pratical or helpful. Overall though, this is a fantastic package for those ready to start moving away from beginner/novice status in something a little more serious.

I've just started climbing indoors and this package gives me everything I need. The harness is comfortable and sturdy. The only thing I wish were different was the tie mechanism for the chalk bag. I feel, like others, that it should just come with a clip. All and all though great product!

Everything you need to get started. I immediately swapped out the chalk bag for one with a bigger opening, but that's just a personal preference. If you are looking to get started climbing and getting tired of renting/borrowing gear, this is a great package at a great price.

Really comfortable harness, and fits perfect. The chalk ball is kinda small, so if you share it with friends, you'll run out pretty soon. ATC and carabiner work well. The chalk bag is good, but you don't always get the good colors. So overall, a very good package to buy if you are starting to get serious about climbing.

This is the first harness I have purchased since I've started climbing. It's got everything you need, the sizes are accurate and I wear it very comfortably. The price is very reasonable as well. My only complaint is that the chalk bag comes in many different colors and patterns, some of which may cause others to question your manhood. Mine was purple with polka-dots. Ha.

This is a great package for pretty much everybody. The harness is super comfortable, and has big wide straps that offer the best support for hanging. Taking whippers in this harness is not a very painful experience like some of the rentals that I have used when I first started. The sizing is a little small and I had to get a size bigger than I thought I would. The biner and belay device are great, a huge Rocklock screwgate for the carabiner and BD standard ATC for belaying. I learnt how to belay with one of these, so I liked that being included. The chalk bag is decently sized for everything I climb, but probably not suited for big trad routes. The chalk shot is great, but unfortunately not refillable, which would be ones of the only things that would make it better for me. The chalkbag comes with a little tie string, which is all but useless. It does fit around your waist, but is too long to just tie to the harness haul loop. I managed to rig it up with a loop around the tie loop on the bag, and then the rest tied around the bag in a circle and then clipping it on with a BD wiregate accessory biner. Most other harnesses I have used had Danger! stamped into the buckles so that the belayer can be sure you are doubled back. This one didn't so I took some red electrical tape to keep safe. Also includes a mesh bag, which is great for keeping everything together.

Be aware that you get a random assortment of colours, so if you want to at least kind of pick, going into a store is the best bet. You can get slate or orange seem to be the main colours, for the chalkbag and the biner accent. I got a red ATC though, so there are other colours available.

Most of the equipment is straight forward. The important thing to focus on here is the harness. The pros to this harness is comfort and price. Decent price and when you are sitting back in this thing you wouldn't think you were sitting in a chair.

The down side for me anyway is it gets tangled when packed away and can be annoying to put on sometimes. Thats the only real down side. So if you are lead climbing with it you have to only deal with this for a minute at the beginning of the day. No big deal.

Perfect set for anyone who's just gotten into climbing. Like Devil8ball said, the chalk bag could use a clip, but that's a pretty minor fix, I just lashed it to the back of the harness with the cord that came with it. Literally everything you need to get climbing in a gym or tag along with a group outing; Harness, Chalk, Biner, ATC, the only thing I might add on was a second carabiner or a quickdraw.

Great idea for getting into the sport. I use it at the gym because I needed something more comfortable than the rentals. The harness is very comfortable but ran slightly smaller than I expected. ATC and carabiner are both great quality as you would expect from black diamond. The chalk bag needs some tweaking, however. The string is very small and fragile. I'm thinking of putting a clip on the bag or a more durable strap. Overall, this is a great deal for getting into the sport.

Even for the intermediate climber... this is an excellent harness that offers all day comfort and great accessories to complement any gear bag.

I needed to get some of my own gear because I no longer had my great gear friend to borrow off of...
So I looked into putting my own package of essentials together. The only way I could come close to the same price was by picking up a lesser harness... So I asked myself, "self, is it worth all this trouble for a "better" atc, and maybe a "cooler" biner?" NO. This package is out-of-the-box ready to go and awesome. And the biner it comes with is great. You really can't ever go wrong with BD quality. Well, the chalk bag it came with is a little "loud" for my tastes and isn't very easily clip-able to your harness via cheapy biner. But that's not a big deal.

Excellent harness and belay device. Harness is very comfortable and easy to put on or take off. Chalk bag is still going strong.

No complaints, this is definitely the best way to get started. Chalk and bag are great, harness is fairly comfortable, atc is functional, It is a great purchase for new climbers.

This is a great little package. The harness is way comfortable. The ATC is standard...but works great. The BD chalk bag is great as well. Would recommend to anyone.

Great harness, but it's my first. Had a couple falls at the gym and it's comfortable, can't wait to get it out to Joshua Tree. Biner and ATC great, and chalk bag great too. Thanks for the sticker!

I bought this a few weeks ago and since have used it to climb at my local wall and took it to Tensleep Wyoming. The harness was very comfy and the belay device and locking carabiner worked as they should. The chalk ball that comes with the package is a little hard to use with the size of the chalk bag but thats not too big of a deal. I just started climbing and this package was perfect to get the things I needed to get to the rocks with my friends.

This is a great harness. Very comfortable and well built.
