Backcountry Access Companion Shovel - 2005
The Backcountry Access Companion Shovel is a remarkably lightweight shovel (available in extendable or fixed versions) made for the recreational user faced with the prospect of digging out a ski or snowboard companion from avalanche debris—thus the ‘companion' designation. The shovel blade is made from high-grade aluminum and the shaft has an oval shape to increase its prying strength and to fit ergonomically in a gloved hand. The D-shaped handle allows for maximum power transmission to the blade.
Bottom Line: A burly, lightweight aluminum shovel you should never be without in the backcountry.
