Big Agnes Zirkel Sleeping Bag: 20 Degree Down - 2007

At only two pounds, the Big Agnes Zirkel 20-Degree Down Sleeping Bag easily cuts weight off your three-season camping kit. The insulation in sleeping bags becomes useless when it's compressed. By replacing the insulation with a sleeve for a Big Agnes REM mummy-shaped pad (not included), Big Agnes brought the Zirkel's weight down to 2lb (Reg) and created a system that keeps you on your pad while you sleep. Inside the water-resistant WRM shell is warm, light 725-fill down. The Zirkel also has an integrated pillow sleeve, where you can stuff your jacket, making yourself even more comfortable while you sleep.

Bottom Line: Enjoy the outdoors after a good night's sleep.

What Took So Long?

By:

Why did it take so long for sleeping bag engineers to come up with this integrated bag/pad concept? This feature alone makes the purchase worthwhile. On a recent canyoneering trip in Moab, UT, I combined the Zirkel with the Air Core REM and my BD (Bibler) Hooped Bivy for one of my best nights out ever. I was actually a tad too warm in the Zirkel (unzipped the bivy & bag to vent) on a night that was clear and about 35 degrees F. The Air Core REM in the Zirkel sleeve was great--I couldn't feel the ground and woke up still on the pad (a rare occurance for me). This is the best valued bag I could find and have been completely satisfied with the bag and even more so with the system.

Awesome Bag!

I had a Mountain Hardware 2nd dimension sleeping bag before this and bought this one because I needed more room...and by more room I mean room at all... So this bag is pretty big! I fit in it being 6'2" and 275 lbs! So there's an idea of the size... It's worth the cost! Great Product!

Big Agnes Zirkel

This is the best bag I have owned. It is light in weight and high in insulation. I was actually too toasty in a North PA AT hike in October.

Could be better

Good on the width of the bag. Zipper gets stuck easier than I hoped. Zipper zips all the way to your face near your eye but your protected by a down baffle. This is a awkward place when your trying to get out. I would like to see a bag like this offered with 850-down fill. It would be even lighter.
