These skis were disappointing. They have tiny scales that don't hold well when climbing. This makes no sense to me. What's the point of having metal edges on a ski that can't climb well enough to get you to terrain that you'd need metal edges for? They glide well and are fine for going downhill, but are really only good for flat or very gentle climbs.

I've taken them up off piste in the Cascades as well as to the groomed trail system at the Stevens Pass ski area. They have excellent kick and glide, are just wide enough to stay afloat on untracked snow, and have plenty of control for turning on the downhill stretches.

Wet sticky snow does stick to them, so bring some glide wax if you're expecting those conditions.

Just for the record: they climb just like any Nordic ski I've ever used. I can only imagine that the other reviewer either has skis too long for his weight, doesn't know how to do the herringbone, and/or would be happier using skins.

After skiing on ice, crud, light snow, new powder and track- I'd recommend these skis as a versatile touring ski. They're the most fun in lightly tracked powder or new snow, but on a track they're seamless as well. I'm not such as fan of them in icy conditions- but they climb better than I would've expected. Add light snow to the trail and they climb great. Edges are a bit sketch for ice, but a ton of fun in powder.

I bought these Atomic Sierra waxless rugged skis for skiing on the sea ice here in Greenland. I have been more than satisfied with these skies and I have spend hours in changing weather from thaw with sticky snow to minus 30 degrees celcius. The sea ice is quite flat but the snow can be deep. However I still find that this ski is wide enough to bear me upon the snow. The terrain here is not for top touring but in pack ice and rough terrain I find that they are easily directed and turned.
