Arc'teryx Tau Pant - Women's - 2007

This is no glorified piece of polyester—the Arc'teryx Women's Tau is the über fleece pant. By adding smooth hardface technology to trusted Polartec Wind Pro fleece, Arc'teryx developed a durable pant for layering or stand alone use. Hardfaced Polartec resists pilling and wear and stands up to rough use longer than its predecessors. Still stretchy and soft on the inside, this new fleece works harder to maintain your core temperature during stop-and-go activities in mixed weather. So layer these pants on those freezing January powder days or wear them alone next to the fire. Arc'teryx added a laminated hip pocket to these straight-leg jeans for a car key or a few bills and incorporated a stretch, pull-on waist for comfort. *Available for US shipment only.

Bottom Line: The Arc'teryx Tau stands on its own as a durable and warm fleece pant.

These pants are in the softshell category, but would they really work as water resistant softshells? I'd like to wear them Ice Climbing, would they layer under another shoftshell pant? Or could i get away with a long underwear underneath and wear these pants as my outermost layer?

I would call these hardfleece in that they have a more durable face than fleece pants, but not the weather resistance of something like the Gamma MX pants. Awesome layering due to slick face fabric, they are just a bit looser than a tight like the Rho AR.
