Arc'teryx Scorpion Jacket - Women's

Arc'teryx constructed the Women's Scorpion Ski Jacket with Gore-Tex Soft Shell High Loft material and a plush fleece lining to provide excellent warmth, breathability, and weather protection. The burly Gore-Tex Soft Shell High Loft exterior feels soft instead of stiff and increases mobility. Whether you prefer to ride lifts or earn your turns in the backcountry, this softshell jacket holds off the snow blasts with a stretch powder skirt and storm hood. Articulate construction provides a flattering fit void of bulky excess. Arc'teryx added armpit zipvents for ventilation in warmer conditions and waterproof zippers throughout the Scorpion Ski Jacket.

Bottom Line: Ride hard in the front- or backcountry with the Arc'teryx Scorpion Ski Jacket.

This jacket is made with Goretex softshell fabric, so if it's not waterproof, it's pretty darn close. I've found my softshells to be fine in heavy snow (though I'm in CO, so it tends to be drier snow), it's just the wind that gets me. But that's the trade off for the breathability of softshell fabric.I have the Arc'Teryx Scorpion pants and they've always kept me dry, even when snow melts on me on the lift. I wouldn't take them out in a rainstorm expecting to stay dry, but they work great in snowy conditions.

Loving my jacket

Awesome jacket. I walk half an hour from my apartment to school in Canada, so comfort, style, quality and winter performance are a must. This jacket has it all. I love it.

Absolutely the Best

This is the best jacket I have ever owned. I've looked for the perfect jacket for a long time during the course of which I have puchased and returned many failures. But the Arcteryx Scorpion is the one. The fit is lovely and true to size. I am a well proportioned girl and I usually have to accept boxy shoulders or tight hips or both. Not everyone has the triangular athletic fit, the hour glass is still around. The softshell material is not so loud and crunchy like many other ski jackets. The jacket runs true to size and I have room to layer both a fairly thick fleece and merino wool sweater and long underwear top, amd still feel comfortable. I gave my Scorpion a test run in the NYC where I walked 4.5 city miles in just mid-weight long underwear under some jeans and a mid-weight Ibex merino wool sweater under my jacket, plus a hat and scarf. It was 25 degrees and bustery - wind chill factor was about 18 degrees. The jacket passed with flying colors, I was not cold at all. I haven't tested it in the rain yet but I'm feeling good that it will pass. The price was steep, I have considered the Scorpion for 2 years now but would not buy because I insisted I could get the same quality and features in a less expensive jacket. But now that I have bit the bullet, closed my eyes and pressed enter when ordering, I have no regrets. Way to go Arcteryx and also BC for having a bit of a sale (I paid $439).

Stood up to a west coast storm

By:
May 3, 2009

I bought this jacket for skiing but ended up wearing it in a storm while camping on the west coast of Vancouver island. It stood up to heavy rain, and 40km hour winds, keeping me nice and toasty. Can't wait to try it out on the hills next winter!

Best Jacket!!

By:
March 5, 2009

I've worked in the industry for over 10 years now and this is my favorite jacket EVER! I've had one for a few years in the orca color (old school) and the light color gets mucky a bit fast in the backcountry boarding and backpacking so I'm contemplating buying a second one in a dark color and up a size so I can take it on colder trips and include extra layers. I know...it's super expensive but...worth it believe it or not. Awesome tapered fit. Good pocket location. Awesome fleece lined in the sleeves, hard if not impossible to find in other brands. Super clean lines. No swishing noise. Good hood fit. I probably have 40-50 fleece/insulation jackets and only 2 hard shells, I'm super picky when it comes to shells and this one of those 2 shells. I work for another high end manufacturer and would pick this jacket over any other jacket out there!!! Love it!

Nothing beats this jacket

By:

Ok ladies, I searched high and low for a great ski jacket and with this Arc'teryx Scorpion jacket in Raisin my search is officially over. I work at a ski resort in Utah and we get it all out here and you can start the day in a blizzard and easily end it bluebird. I work in this jacket with the Patagonia Sweater beneath and 1-2 more thin layers and I'm ALWAYS toasty warm. And I typically freeze my butt off no matter what the conditions. Love the pockets as they are just where they should be, love the double zip pit vents, love the hood (best I've ever used in blizzard conditions) and this is the first jacket that I don't feel the wind through. Truly amazing for any snow or rain activity as you will stay warm and dry. I ordered the small and I'm 5'6" and 130 lbs and it fits perfect. My only gripe is the need somewhere to attach your season pass, either on the arm or a place to hook a zip tie. Either way, I'm so happy and it's money well spent to be comfy and warm!

Are there any inner pockets at all? This looks like my dream ski jacket, but I have to carry my cell phone to stay in touch with my snowboarding teenager. In addition, I love love love my ipod, I invested in the Omen helmet. I can't leave my ipod at home...

I am in between sizes. If I buy a jacket on sale, can I exchange

I am in between sizes. If I buy a jacket on sale, can I exchange it after the holidays for the exact jacket in a different size even though it may not be on sale? Also, what would happen if the size I needed later was out of stock?

Yes, you can return it. You'll get a full refund of what you paid for it (sale price). If the size you want isn't in stock, wait for it to come back.
