The Arc'teryx Minuteman Pant protects your legs from the elements with three-layer waterproof breathable Gore-Tex XCR material. Articulated knees give you maximum mobility, which is nice no matter what kind of plank(s) your crank. Laminated powder cuffs keep your ankles from freezing, and kick patches keep you from chewing up your pants. The Minuteman is breathable as is, but on warm days you'll appreciate the watertight side zips. *Available for US shipment only.
Bottom Line: Take on any mountain conditions with the Arc'teryx Minuteman Pant.
These are all you need for a do everything bomproof set of all weather pants. The powder cuffs and the drawcord on the ankles completely seals out the pow! And then if you just wanna run around in the woods you can sinch'em up so you won't have fabric under your heels. The ultimate set-up is to throw on some medium weight thermals and the Minuteman pants and your good year round any temps. Major draw back are the pockets - pretty much useless. Learned my lesson with these poorly placed/designed pockets. If you take off and forget to zip up, whatever was in the pocket is definitely gone....because the pocket has no depth and it sits on your your thigh (zipper parallel to your leg) If only someone coulda thought to make the pocket zipper go left to right instead of up & down. Then you could drop something in and not have it roll out!
I use those pants for ski and snowshoeing (+ alpha sv). They are light, comfortable and elements proof. It let me choose the appropriate underlaying depending the activity and temperature. Unlike new version of most Arcteryx shell pants, they don't unzip all leg long (I don't like zips all leg long). Finally they are made in Canada.
This is my first season with the Arc'teryx Minuteman (also with an Arc'teryx Alpha SV). The Minuteman is a fabulous pant. Superior quality of material and construction that I've come to expect from Arc'teryx, that blows away all other pants I've skied with (Spyder and TNF recently). The fit is fantastic, and thank you Arc'teryx for being the only (as far as I know) manufacturer to bring out a Short line of XCR hard shell pants - the Short S fits me perfectly (5'7").
Count me as an Arcteryx convert. Man is it expensive, but it is so worth it.
It's light, durable, waterproof, windproof, easy to layer. What else can you ask for besides a lower price. These pants have gone skiing with me through out the country and canada and it's held up fabulously. The pockets are just the right size that forces you NOT overload the pockets. The side venting zips have come in handy. The belt helps you keep the pants up in you happen to have a bad wreck.
Sizing - street pants I wear a 33 waist and 30-31 length. I got a Large. Its a bit baggy and the length a LITTLE long BUT overall it fits well. I'm just between sizes and the medium was a little tight around the waist especially when I start to wear stuff under the pants.
If you can get a deal on these then I highly recommed these pants.
These pants do everything I expected from them. However, the kick patches of these pants could be more durable as I have had ski edges cut through mine. The fit around the waist is as advertised, but they seem a little baggy around the legs. Gore-Tex doesn't breath that well so the side vents get plenty of use when skinning. The pocket is awkwardly shaped and all I use it for stashing my camera.
As usual, these pants are bomber Arc'teryx. They're indestructible and nothing is getting in. There's no insulation to them and the pockets are completely useless, but the material is amazingly lightweight, completely waterproof and I'm pretty sure it'll last longer than I will. I couldn't recommend these more.
These are a great goretex pant. They are a great fit for any activity so you can use them for skiing or backpacking. They are a pretty simple design with stuff you need like taped seams, strong zippers, a few pockets, and ankle cuff gaiters and nothing you do not need. A great pant that will last forever with regular use and decent care.
