Arc'teryx Gamma SV Glove

The Gamma SV Glove from Arc'teryx is made for severe conditions. Arc'teryx uses the designation SV to indicate gear intended for the roughest use. The Gamma SV glove incorporates hardworking Polartec Power Shield for freedom of movement and comfort. The application of washable Lezanova leather means that these Gamma gloves can withstand a soaking and still retain their shape and dexterity. Designed for climbing, long approaches, and springtime vertical, the SV is anatomically cut for a great fit and excellent feel while swinging ski poles or ice tools. *Available for US shipment only.

Bottom Line: The Gamma SV glove is serious handwear for severe conditions.

These are made for aerobic activities where you are hot and active, once you cool down these are not the gloves for you. But should you need a glove to tour uphill in, these are the bomb. Can be used for downhill on warm days but keep a warm glove for the colder days.

Love Arc Teryx....hate these gloves

By:
October 1, 2009

I own 6 different Arc Teryx items, and they have all met or exceeded my expectations. These gloves however are poorly made. I tried two different pairs of XL's and the right glove on both pairs was significantly smaller than the left. On both pairs the middle two fingers were twisted and way too small.

Not for extreme weather

By:

The glove is a great glove for base camp and getting around town. It is extremely well built, but definitely not for the skiing. I tried it one day, because they were so great at the base. However, I developed the first stages of frost bite on two fingers. I immediately purchased a great The North Face glove and was fine the rest of the time. Overall good buy, but only if looks are important and you can have several gloves in your arsenal.

Great Gloves

By:
March 11, 2006

These gloves fit very well; a bit on the snug side. The pull tab is nice, the materials are all great. I just wish they had more grip, the leather is pretty slick. I love the high-loft fleece in the back of the knuckles and fingers. The gloves seemed a bit worn when I got them, I really like them, though. Hope they last, they ought to.
They are very warm. I went mountain-biking for several hours, temps were probably about 30. Hands were fine.

Best in its class

By:

I would definitely recommend the Gamma SV to anyone who desires an excellent warmth-to-dexterity ratio. Other Windstopper gloves (including North Face products) fail at around -10C and are therefore suitable only for early winter weather. The Gamma SV keeps you toasty as the mercury heads south thanks to its softshell/fleece construction.
While this glove is perfect for those who are active, it does not compare to a mitt if you happen to be sedentary, or if you intend to brave very extreme conditions.

NOTE: due to its snug fit, I highly suggest purchasing a SIZE LARGER THAN YOU USUALLY WEAR. I had to exchange my gloves for this very reason.
Bottom line: a great buy!

Good quality, but doesn't fit well

By:
December 15, 2008

The medium is too small, so I purchased a large, but that was too slightly too big. Overall the quality and feel of the glove is nice, but just doesn't fit me well.
