The Arc'teryx Women's Gamma MX Jacket is the softshell to end all softshells. This jacket has been awarded by Climbing Magazine and the Polartec Apex Awards due to its all-weather versatility and enlightened design. The Women’s Gamma MX Jacket uses seamless, gusseted underarms to eliminate bulk and provide a trim and flattering fit. This unique fit lets you enjoy unparalleled freedom of movement for climbing, hiking, or ski touring. The jacket’s seam design contours a woman’s shape and stretches liberally to maximize mobility. The jacket’s Polartec Powershield material feels fuzzy on the inside and helps draw perspiration away. The material’s smooth exterior resists wind and water so you can stay outside longer and much more comfortably. Sleek pockets on the chest and arm hold little necessities you like to keep on-hand.
Bottom Line: The queen of all softshells: fleecy soft, with wicked-good protection.
This jacket is primo- fit is great, you can easily layer for colder days and it is completely waterproof. I wore it in a storm on the mountain and never got wet. It's also super stretchy and flexible for climbing or vigorous activity. The quality cannot be beat. Plus, it looks good!
This jacket proved to be worth the dinero. The woman was well protected from the elements at all altitudes on our journey to Switzerland. Wind, wet, snow, it made no difference with this garment. My men's version functioned with the same results, 'Outstanding'.
That's going to be a no. It will only accept the better of the two discounts. That would be sweet though, 25% off of an already 40% discounted item! I think BC would be loosing some money at that point.
Typically the coupons work like this: If item is on sale then you can't use the discount unless the item on sale's discount is less than the % of your coupon. i.e. Shirt 20% off on sale - your coupon would boost that sale to 25% of the original tag price, not the sale price. However, as Cyrus pointed out its not going to hurt you to try. Having said that I must warn you I have recently run across a bug in the CODE COUPON system and have lost out pretty big...can't go into details bout my situation until it has been resolved, sorry. So, I would hold onto that COUPON and save it for something you can definitely get your 25% off on. IMHO, I just wouldn't take the chance given my recent (last 24 hour) experience. Only asnwers I can get thus far from gear heads is that there's a bug in the system and so now Ive been passed off to marketing and the ultimate powers that b @ BC. Try your luck, though it may be a gamble or just wait and use it on something the discount would do you some good on. Good question tho and hope I was able to help shed some insight for you. If you're new to Backcountry I encourage you to utilize the live chat with a representative. The 'gearheads' are very helpful, friendly, and provide great customer satisfaction. Ive been dealing with BC a while now and have only just recently came across an issue they couldn't give me an answer for, but my case is a strange one. However...be warned that they have a lot of new reps these days that are still learning the ropes so you may want to talk to a couple of them for a lil checks and balance for your questions. But seriously, they truly are a delight to chat with about gear and for the most part are pretty informative and useful! They'er actually priceless to me!
most likley not, usually the coupon are the better of the two deals, but theres no harm in goin into the checkout area and entering the code just in case :-)
This is a great softshell, but I've worn it like twice. In the NW, a rain jacket or down jacket always seems to be a better choice. Maybe by spring time this will come out of the closet more, but the conditions are not the best here for this type of jacket. Would recommend for a warmer climate since the jacket is very thin and not really warm.
Excellent fitting jacket with one or two layers underneath. Flexible enough for long stretches on the bike. Sheds water like rain-x yet still breathable for the body. Compliments abound everytime I wear this jacket! Must be the sexy Sangria red!
http://arcteryx.com/sizing-charts.aspx Most of the jackets for alpine climbing, mountaineering and ice climbing run a little more snug, while the skiing and snowboard jackets are a little roomier. All of the jackets have an athletic fit, broad shoulders, narrower waist.
No doubt,THIS IS the jacket you want to have. I walked down to my martial art training center this evening with just a teeshirt under the jacket...ABSOLUTLY NOT COLD, no kidding. Oh, by the way the weather tonight in NYC (02/28/05)was very windy and snowing. It blocks the wind totaly and not a single drop of water found his way thru.
If you like a softshell freedom of movement jacket with lots of pockets, this is the jacket. Its got 2 chest, 2 hand and 1 sleeve pockets. It is great for layering. I've used it for rock climbing, skiing, snowshoeing, and just around town. This is my favorite jacket. I have 2, 1 black and 1 Aloe color.
This jacket is a great fit and style, great technical details, and it's both warm and waterproof....very important if you live in the northwest. A bit pricey, but worth it.
love this coat!! the small was a little too small across the chest so i had to go with a med which was longer than i wanted but beyond that it's been great. hyper wind resistant and all around great for skiing.
This jacket looks and feels great in a multitude of climates. It packs exceptionally well and does not wrinkle. Best of all it really moves with you and breathes.
I can't wait to try this out in the cold weather. This jacket is a perfect fit (I actually went a size smaller than normal). It has great flexibility for any activity and the seamless design adds extra comfort.
