Arc'teryx Fission LT Hoody - Men's - 2007

Sub-zero temperatures, howling wind, and driving snow are no problem when you're wearing the super-warm Arc'teryx Men's Fission LT Hoody. Its WindStopper membrane keeps the weather at bay, while 200-grams of PrimaLoft synthetic insulation ensures you stay toasty warm as you ascend the last few feet to the summit. The Fission LT Hoody is an excellent jacket for ice climbing, mountaineering, and skiing in extremely cold weather. When your water bottles freeze solid and any bare skin turns white, this Arc'teryx jacket is ready for the challenge. *Available for US shipment only.

Bottom Line: Don't let the cold stop your day in the mountains. Fight through it with the Arc'teryx Fission LT Hoody.

Everyday Jacket

By:

Not that this is your "everyday" jacket, but this is the jacket I wear every day. I don't ski anymore or do any winter sports besides beerpong and the occasional mtb ride when the ice lets up, but this jacket is sweet. My criteria were that my jacket be windproof(wasn't worried too much about waterproof), not ride up when I lift my arms, cover my bum(which climbing jackets do nicely) and be light so I don't feel like I'm toting a monkey on my back. This jacket fit all the criteria and looks good in a subdued way to boot! The only thing I would like on the jacket are watertight zips, but since it isn't a waterproof jacket perhaps thats asking too much. All in all a great jacket through 2 years of use! I'm 5'10" 175 lbs and bought the large, could've done with a M, but like the room for a heavy under layer.

How is the sizing of this jacket? I am between a medium and a large in arc ( like the fit of the medium, but sometimes they are too short/have too short sleeves).I am 6´ , just below 200lbs.

Great jacket, very warm, great fit. I use this jacket for skiing, i wish i had vents and a powder skirt but the jacket is so warm and comfy i can get by without them.

I can't seem to find a Medium size (Black or Blue color) for this jacket anywhere. Does Arc'teryx have any jacket similar to this one, in terms of degree of insulation and wind/water protection?

The current model is called the Kappa SV. Still Windstopper and 200g Primaloft, but with a slightly tougher face fabric, and finish-taped seams (adds some weather resistance, and makes the seams even smaller).***There's also the Fission SV, more expensive, but has a different goretex outer which is waterproof, the LT isn't.

A must have for alpine climbing

By:
June 26, 2008

This is the greatest insulated layer jacket I have ever owned. I used this jacet on Mt Baker a few weeks ago in high winds and 25deg temperatures and it performed Perfectly. It truly is a windstopper and even though they don't claim it to be waterproof after several hours of heavy rain it stayed nice and dry. The hood is perfect for wearing with a helmet although a bit big otherwise. My only gripe is there are no pit zips. This jacket gets hot even in cold temps and it would be nice to have some vents.

I wanna know why these great insulated jackets don't have more pit-zips. I tried skiing once in cold conditions with one of the Primaloft Arcteryx jackets and was burning up so much, I had to unzip the entire jacket to let some chilly air in to cool down. I wish they'd understand, we buy these coats to do stuff in, not standing in line waiting for the bus.

The Primaloft insulated Jackets are designed to minimize your need for underlayers during climbing/ascents. To reduce overheating choose a shell layer without the insulation. I currently have had the Arc'teryx Sidewinder AR since 2005 riding over 130 days a season no problems no overheating. Next jacket purchase, research the venting before laying down the money and you will be happy for many years to come. Cheers

Excellent coat, fits well, toasty warm and not bulky at all. Now I have to buy one for my wife because we are fighting over the climate control in our vehical because I'm to hot.
