Arc'teryx Fission AR Jacket - Men's - 2009

Blowing snow, subzero temps, and whiteout conditions send lesser skiers to the lodge—but not you. Outfitted in your Arc’teryx Men’s Fission AR Jacket, you’re prepared to take on the worst the mountain can deliver—and be downright gleeful about it. Arc’teryx insulated this waterproof breathable shell by laminating a layer of lightweight PrimaLoft Sport to the interior textile, and then uniting all of it to the Gore-Tex Pro Shell exterior. Lamination eliminates the need for stitching or quilting, which in turn gets rid of cold spots. As with all Arc’teryx jackets, you’ll be blown away by the details on the Fission AR: a physique-enhancing fit, articulated elbows for easy moving, watertight zippers so your cell or wallet doesn’t get wet, and a helmet-compatible, stowable hood for added warmth.

Bottom Line: Laugh at those weenies headed to the lodge, and drop in.

Warm soft and looks great.

I really love this jacket. It's supper warm and the interior is soft. The Gore-Tex Pro Shell is amazingly rugged. Very tough shoulders and wrists and the rip-stop style shell body is a nice touch. The DWR is good and waterproofness is to be expected. The pockets are insulated unlike Patagonia's Micropuff Jacket. Completely windproof, packs well for Gore-Tex and looks great. The stow hood has a soft 40D nylon lining like the interior of the jacket. I'm 5'8" 165lbs and the Medium fits really well. The only problem I have and its not that big of a deal is the fact the collar has a stretch baffle that keeps snow or precip from getting into the jacket. Problem is that the collar when it's not zipped all the way up the zipper is right at eye level and gets kind of annoying. Not sure if I have the latest version but mine doesn't have the red zipper pulls and it's made in Canada.
