Arc'teryx Dually Belay Insulated Parka - Men's

The Arc'teryx Men's Dually Belay Insulated Parka uses two layers of DWR-treated ThermaTek synthetic insulation to keep you toasty and dry during a long ice climb belay or rest break in the mountains. Continuous-filament, non-quilted insulation ensures that the hip-length Dually Belay Jacket has no cold spots. A light but burly polyester ripstop shell provides durability (because granite goes hard on outerwear). Two internal mesh pockets hold anything from extra gloves and hats to down booties, so your sit-around necessities stay ready and warm.

Bottom Line: Arc'teryx brings advanced synthetic insulation for the mountains with the Dually Belay Insulated Parka.

first syntetic that feels like down

I have never had a synthetic that felt like a down jacket, this is a first and I love this jacket. As warm as down but not affected by water. It fits big, but is super cosy. The red is super bright and can be seen from far, far away. Light and packable. great.

TOASTER

It fills the bill for belaying or a rest break. Even at 18 above zero just over 12 thousand feet with a strong wind. It fits well over all layers without sizing up and packs well in it's own stuff sack. The product description says the rest.

Only good for exactly that, belaying.

This jacket makes you look like a football linebacker. Admittedly, it helps with range of motion when moving your arms for belaying, but for all other situations, it just looks like you're wearing pads. The problem is that they gave you room, but also gave you bulk. Thermatek works wonders and is basically waterproof, and is warm and light as hell, but for any other practical use, the jacket is laughable as anything close to a casual piece. I'd stick to the Solo, which alternatively has a very close Euro fit, (closer than most Arc'teryx, but true to sizing) and is one of the best pieces I own.

When you order this jacket, the colors are actually going to be a lot brighter. Check http://www.arcteryx.com/product.aspx?Dually-Belay-Parka#
to see the actual colors.

Great Jacket

Seemed to be really warm. I did return it because of the fit. Unless you are really looking to wear "lots of layers", it runs a little big!
