Thought the Arc'teryx Men's Covert Zip Neck Sweater looks like a wool top, it actually packs the technical performnce of Polartec Thermal Pro fleece to keep you warm and dry in just about any condition. This highly breathable and quick-drying top fits right in when you're heading out to dinner, and no one will know you wore it backcountry skiing that morning. Arc'teryx prides itself on versatile pieces, and the Covert Sweater is no different.
Bottom Line: Performance to handle anything, the style you with your other jackets had.
warm fleece, i was hoping it'd look a little better on, and the zipper isn't as long as other half zip fleeces..but it's arcteryx. high quality craftsmanship and i totally dig the pocket on the sleeve. really ads to it. love the wicking and how breathable it is.
I love this jacket. The fleece feels nice and the sleeve pocket is good for money/cell phone/whatever. My only complaints is the length of the sleeves. The waist fits fine but sleeves hit just shy of my wrists. Overall, I'm quite satisfied
I'm 5'11/175, and I wear a Large. Most Arc'teryx gear I wear in a Medium, but this is a pretty casual fleece, so I got it a bit loose. You would fit a large just fine, but if you prefer a casual fit, go up one size.
I got this sweater for my birthday last year and it is fantastic! Very stylish, warm and functional. I wear it everywhere and had to purposely try to not wear it so it wouldnt get worn out in the first couple of months. A little on the expensive side but well worth the money.
Bought this for my husband. It is simply quality clothing. We live at 7,000 feet in the central mountains of Colorado. He has worn it riding as well as for social events. Sizing is ample so don't size up. Arms are a bit long for the average built male, but the sweater is still worth every penny.
Has been a great shirt for running in at 1600M up in Afghanistan. Also a great sleeping shirt, not exactly a good color to wear under my uniform but i am on OFP (Own F#$@%^ Program) So it works out. pocket just barley fits my ipod touch, but that is no fault of the shirt. but a port like other articles have would be awesome. I am a mountain of a man at 5'8, and 135 lbs of twisted steel and sex appeal, the small fits GREAT.

I like this because it looks like a nice sweater but has all the functionality of a good outdoor peice. My wife even likes it and she is not a big outdoor gear person. I gave it four stars because the zipper is just a little short.
This sweater does run true to size, but that size is more of an athletic fit, and meant to layer, so it is going to be cut as so. Hope this helps you out!
Very nice all around sweater. Pretty warm, and yet doesn't cause me to overheat. The style works on the mountain or in the office, makes for a vesatile piece - I've had a hard time taking it off since the weather turned cooler. One minor issue is that the zip isn't very long, only goes about as low as a v-neck sweater. It's basically there so you can get your head through the collar, and zipped up makes for a mock turtle neck. I'm just saying not to expect to use it as a heat dump like you would on a 1/2 zip or even 1/4 zip shirts. Treat it as your most comfortable sweater though, and you can't go wrong.
Warm and functional enough for cool to cold weather camping, stylish enough to make it past the business casual dress code at your office! I have the carob from 2 years ago (read: brown). Functionally the fleece is very warm, though it is a mid layer at heart--you aren't stopping any wind with this sweater. The quarter zip neck height matches a turned down turtleneck perfectly. Open it is stylish and closed it snugs to you neck keeping you warm but is short enough not to crowd the jaw line. Style wise having the fuzzy part of the fleece on the inside makes the outside look stitched like a sweater--thereby fooling your office manager into thinking it IS a sweater. Take that dress code!
I'm 6'1" 185 and the Large fit my torso perfect prior to washing, and though I've been super careful and only washed it a handful of times in it's now 2 years of life it's gotten just a bit more baggy in the torso. That being said for a Large the Sleeves are a solid inch too short for my liking. When I hold my arms in the air the sleeves are noticeably short of my wrists.
I was lucky enough to grab this on sale, though perhaps even at full price it'd be worth it given its ability to look nice enough for work while still providing excellent warmth to weight for camping.
The good: I am 6'3" 195lbs with a 43" chest and 34" waist and the Large fits perfectly. The sleeves are long enough for me. The sizing is spot on. The sweater looks great. I have worn it casually more than in active settings but I am sure it would perform well. It is super soft and comfortable. It is warmer than I thought it would be.
The bad: It piles after some uses, washings and wear no matter how careful you are with it. It offers no wind protection (not that i was expecting any...). It's an expensive sweater.
I like and wear this so much that I will be getting another one of these. Its a really nice sweater. Highly recommended!
This sweater, has it all technical styling and usefulness, but without the uber tight technical fit. So you can wear it under your shell, and wear it while lounging around the fire pit. I am an ex-offensive lineman from college and the XXL fits very nice.
I have a Covert from a few years ago and I still love it. The new ones are sized and cut differently. About 2-3 inches longer than I'd like. I liked the color and material but just couldn't wear it because of the weird fit. Backcountry is great on shipping and returns. Will definitely use them again.
I wanted to like this sweater ... I really did. And it was a struggle for me to decide if I should go through the hassle of returning it. But in the end, it was painfully obvious that the fit was more frump and less sport -- something that just isn't worth the price of an Arc'teryx label.
Specifically, the neck is very loose and the bottom of the sweater is too tight. I'm 5'11", 160 lbs and have a fairly average male body. The only way this "neck sweater" is going to keep you warm is if you double the size of your neck. In addition, the base of the sweater that wraps around the waist is so tight that leaving shirts untucked underneath is out of the question -- everything gets bunched up as you go about your day and eventually ends up working its way up your chest.
Don't be swayed by the great color choices or the warmth. They need to take this one back to the drawing board...
I knocked it down one star because it's just plain too expensive for what it is. Still, I like it a lot and it is quite flexible because it looks nice enough to go under a sport coat yet it is warm enough and comfortable enough to wear skiing.
Soft and warm. I bought two different ones, I wear this everywhere. Absolutely NOT windproof in the least though. Everything fit good on me at the wrist and waist.
Used this sweater under a drysuit for scuba diving. Base layer was just a thin HH shirt, then this sweater and then laminated drysuit. Water temperature was +9 Celsius. For those farenhiters - it is bloody cold. Felt awesome - the sweater does it's job 100%. Even more, after getting back to shore between dives, took the drysuit off in a wind ( the waves started to show white caps, so I would say 13 knots). Sweater was able to hold the wind for me.
I bought it for my husband and he loves it. It fits well, looks well and it is easy to take care of. I afraid that now he will ask to buy the same sweater in another color... The downside is the price, I got it on sale, otherwise it is way too expensive. This is just a fleece, well done, but a fleece!
This is my second, can only afford when on sale. Very well worth the money, is awesome in the cold esp w/ thin base layer. A fleece that doesn't have much 'stink' with moderate wear. Just waiting for another sale on this. Would buy again. Sizing seems right, I need a small and this is one of a few smalls that is just that a small.
This is one sweet sweater that'll keep you warm. Super-comfy, I wear it around the house all the time when it's a bit chilly. I normally wear Large, and this one fit me just right in Large - No funky sizes.
Very warm, comfortable, and breathable. I thought about going with another sweater but decided to fork out the extra few bucks for the Arc'teryx neck sweater for the sake of trying out an Arc'teryx product. Gotta say it is top notch. Not only a great layer, but great for wearing around town as well. Definitely happy with this buy.
