Arc'teryx Bora 50 Backpack - 2807-3296cu in

The Arc'teryx Bora 50 Backpack has enough cargo space to carry all the gear for a plush overnight camping trip and ultra-comfortable suspension to make the hiking as enjoyable as possible. In addition to the Bora 50 Backpack's 2880cu inch (medium) main compartment, it also includes a front kangaroo pocket, a lid pocket, and two stowable water-bottle pockets. Arc'teryx used their thermoformed waist-belt and back panel technology to give this overnight pack a comfortable carry. A single aluminum stay supports the load, even if you go a little overboard on the comfort items.

Bottom Line: Bring all you need, and do it comfortably thanks to the Arc'teryx Bora 50 Backpack's excellent support.

What you would expect for the price

By:

This pack is great and exactly what you would expect for the steap price. the top compartment is water resistant with a water resistant zipper. meaning your stuff in the lid wont get wet in a light rain. the should strap and hip belt are thick and comfortable and support heavy loads well. This is the burliest hip/ shoulder straps that I've seen on a pack of this size. this bag is not overloaded with pockets and water bottle carriers, for me this is a good thing. there is one compartment on the top of the lid and one on the bottom of the lid, there is also a kangaroo pocket on the outside of the pack. This pocket is small and is only good for small items that you might want to get to with out unpacking everything.

I'm thru-hiking the AT next year and have been considering

I'm thru-hiking the AT next year and have been considering this bag. Would it be big enough for that type of trip? Only worried that it could be too small for the early spring as I will have some extra gear due to the cold. I know people hike the AT with packs this size all the time, just wondering if this pack would work.

You'd have to pack light only because ~3000 cu in. is doable as you mentioned, but is still tight on size.

Arc'teryx makes great products and I am sure you'd be extremely satisfied with this pack, but take a peek at some of the Granite Gear Packs, particularly the Vapor Trail:

http://www.backcountry.com/store/subcat/8/b31/Granite-Gear-Backpacks.html

While it has a great amount of support, it will give you ~500 cu in more, boasts 2 pounds lighter than the Bora 50, a little easier on your wallet, and is probably one of the most popular packs on the AT (mainly due to it's perfect size and unbelievable amount of comfort). I do have this pack myself, and I am very happy with it. That's my recommendation... hope this helps!

Best Backpack

By:

I just recently purchased this backpack and already I love it. Its durable and long lasting. The zippers on the bag is tight and durable. I traveled to Europe for a week this backpack was all i needed. Its comfortable with its padded straps. The bag is somewhat water resistant just dont pack anything you dont want to get wet in the toplid. The bag has many storage compartments, also some hidden ones to keep valuable papers. One draw back to the bag is its weight the bag could be a lot lighter. Over all I would most definitely recommend picking up this bag for long trips.

All around pack

This pack gives me everything i want from a multi-day pack. materials are sturdy and superb quality, good padding and straps. Too large for a 50 liters pack. Fitting on my back is really good.
