AlpineAire Santa Fe Black Beans and Rice

If you own a cookstove or even just a pot and some matches, these freeze dried and dehydrated meals are the way to go. They're lightweight, compact, and super easy to prepare. The meals are packaged in resealable foil pouches. Most weigh between 5 and 7 ounces and offer 2 servings. To prepare a meal, just add a couple cups of hot water right to the pouch. A few minutes later you're ready to chow.

Better As A Side Dish

By:

Good source of carbohydrates & protein. To me, this meal along with all freeze dried meals need to be spiced up a bit. Allow to rehydrate two to three minutes longer unless you like crunchy beans. Eat as a side dish with another friend or two. Large portions.

Great

This was by far the best meal I had with me on a 3 day trip. I'll bring more than one next time. I recommend adding 1/2 cup more water than the directions call for.

Dehydrated Food.

This was tolerable, I really despise dehydrated food, but I could eat this without being too disgusted.
