AlpineAire Mountain Chili

If you own a cookstove or even just a pot and some matches, these freeze dried and dehydrated meals are the way to go. They're lightweight, compact, and super easy to prepare. The meals are packaged in resealable foil pouches. Most weigh between 5 and 7 ounces and offer 2 servings. To prepare a meal, just add a couple cups of hot water right to the pouch. A few minutes later you're ready to chow.

Meat Not Necessary

All the freeze dried food producers make a chili meal but to me, this is the tastiest of the vegetarian entries. Great as a base for adding other ingredients like additional spices & meat if you're so inclined.

This does not have enough spice or meat. It was mostly red beans, which is okay, but I wouldn't call it chili.

If you like vegatarian chili this is for you.

If you like your chili to be the con carne variety, however, you might want to try something else, like the Alpine Air Tamale Pie with Beef, as the omission of meat is notable to the palate.

That said, this meal has a nice level of spice and heat (though some might want to add more heat) and is rather tasty, if you don't mind the absence of beef.
