Alpina TR 50 Touring Boot - 2007

Head to the local park's trailhead, or make your own tracks off your back porch. The Alpina Men's TR 50 is a warm, comfortable cross-country ski boot that guarantees fun trails are on the horizon. The mid-flexing sole has an athletic-shoe fit, so they're comfortable for walking and stiff enough to handle Nordic skis. Thinsulate insulation seals in heat, while a zip-up lace cover keeps snow out and prevents the laces from getting iced up. The TR 50 Nordic boot is ideal for anyone who skis in cold climates or has chronically cold feet. They're compatible with Rottefella NNN Touring bindings.

Great for a Beginner

I'm a beginner cross country skier, and these boots are great. Very comfortable, easy to step into the skis.

These are pretty basic boots, but I had my old Alpina touring boots for about 15 years before they finally started to fall apart, and I figured I couldn't go wrong trying again. For a low-priced boot, they are very comfortable, and have adequate support so you can skate a bit with them. My only gripe is with the zippered cover over the laces. It's nice that the laces are covered to protect from snow and ice, but it's tough to stuff the laces in there and pull up the zipper when it's cold (a big pull tab would be nice!). My old Alpinas had a velcro flap that was a cinch to pull over the laces. Overall I like the boots, the price was right, and if they last half as long as my old Alpinas I'll be happy.
