Adventure Medical Ben's 100 Max Deet Tick & Insect Repellent

Ben's 100 Tick & Insect Repellent is your best defense against potentially lethal bug bites. Each year more and more individuals are infected with Lyme disease, West Nile Virus, and other deadly effects of infected insects. This water based repellent uses powerful DEET to protect you from dangerous bugs. DEET has been proven safe, when used as directed, and is the most powerful insect repellent available. Ben's formula is alcohol and propellant free to deliver the highest concentration of repellent without environmentally hazardous fluorocarbons. Use Ben's easy to apply insect repellents to keep you, and your family, safe when heading outdoors this year.

Bottom Line: bite back.

it does what it does baby

the first day i only used a few sprays on the outside of my pants and by the end of the hike i had ticks all the way up my leg too close to my crotch for comfort. the second time i used it a turned my pants inside out and put about six sprays down the inside of each leg before i put them on and a couple sprays on each sock. . . NOT A SINGLE TICK! although i think the weather might have had a bit to do with it, i've noticed that i get more ticks on days when it's not too hot. over all i'd say it's pretty good stuff, i'll be buying more when i run out

The best there is .. but not a miracle

On the occasions I use repellent this is all I use. Its 99% DEET so only a couple sprays on the back and a couple on the front will work.

The effectiveness of this product is more a function of duration than quantity. Its about 90% effective for the first 3-4 hours in the swamps. Use a small amount every few hours in intense mosquito conditions.

Spray it on your clothes. You do not want this "stuff" directly on your skin. Especially in sweaty conditions and especially if you are susceptible to heat rash.

Its effectiveness against ticks is highly questionable.

This product is 110 times better than getting all greasy with OFF. Apply it to your clothes not your skin.

How many applications will I get from 1.25 oz pump of 100%. I

How many applications will I get from 1.25 oz pump of 100%. I will be in Alaska in Jun & Jul for 3 weeks working fairly hard and sweating. I will be in the wilds. I am a large man 6' 1" 250 lb, a lot of surface to cover, Ha! I need to take enough along to last the trip, without going overboard airline bag weight restrictions apply.

I'd lean towards 3 (1 per week). Better safe than full of welts!!!

I would say that 2 of these should be enough, you don't need a lot during the day, it tends to stay on pretty good.

Evil But Essential

By:

This is the only thing that works, 100% of the time, in East Coast woods. Black flies don't get me, chiggers keep away, even the buzzing mosquitos of the valleys in VT. Yes, there's Deet in it. But, when i'm climbing and hiking in the East, nothing else keeps the bugs away.

Best against mosquitos.

During my time in the Corps, I spent a lot of time battling bugs. I have seen mosquito swarms like bees and cover every exposed inch of skin, and had ticks where you don't want them. Although nets provide solid protection against mosquitoes, this is the best alternative. Over the years this was the best I could find, and provided better protection than most cremes and sprays that use other chemicals like Permethrin. I think Repel offers a similar product, that contains 95% Deet but it isn't offered at many stores. Against ticks, the best measure is physical barriers such as tucking your pants in your boots, and your shirt in your pants along with spraying you legs heavily.

It works! I've used Adventure Medical Ben's Deet 100 Max Tick & Insect Repellent a lot this summer and have barely suffered any itchy bites. I do hate bugs - especially the biting ones, so this makes spring/summer much more enjoyable!
