Atomic Kailas Telemark Ski - 2006

The Atomic Kailas Telemark Ski is a fat plank for those who charge the deep off-piste, but want something that can handle the occasional ice sheet in the backcountry or the corduroy at the resort. The Kailas Ski rewards those looking beyond the ropes with a soft shovel and supple longitudinal flex for effortless float through the frosted flakes. The Beta 4 magnesium construction affords rigid torsional flex for surprisingly strong carving purchase and lightweight strength for great float and easy touring. The Atomic Kailas Telemark Ski's raised tail makes retreats from sketchy situations easy and the flat back of the tail allows your skins to stay put.

A great and nimble do it all ski

The Kailas is true to the decidedly solid Atomic ride but adds responsiveness uncharacteristic of some of the other Atomic skis. This is a very easy initiating ski that can handle deep and mixed conditions. I am used to the more traditional feel of the Kongur (TMX) and it takes some time to adjust to this ski but the Kailas is a true all mountain board with a wider appeal for the powder hounds and backcountry tours. Too bad it is not the best looking ski though...
