Atlas 9 Series Elektra Snowshoe Package - Women's

The Atlas Women's 9 Series Elektra Snowshoe Package gives a snow-trail hiking girl what she needs to hit the trails—the 9 Series Elektra Snowshoes, 6000 Series two-part poles, and a snowshoe tote. Strap the strong, tapered-frame, springy snowshoes to your boots, grab the thankfully knee-saving poles, and head out into the winter wonderland.

Bottom Line: Don't waste time rummaging around in the mud room when you could be on your way to a powder-filled adventure—store your stuff in this tote and get going.

Absolutely!

These are an excellent snowshoe for moderate terrain. If you don't already have poles and want some, then this package gives you those, and it's always nice to have something to haul it all around in.

I will warn you though: the Atlas binding design "springs back" into position as you finish your step. That means that, unless you're on really packed snow, you're likely to get snow thrown up onto your butt and back. I'm short; I get the odd bit down my neck too. The binding system is excellent technically, but if you don't want a snowy butt or don't have waterproof pants/jacket, I'd think about going with a different brand.

Try a different brand

Atlas has a design that causes the rear of the snowshoe to "snap" upwards on each step, throwing snow up the back of the wearer. It wound up soaking my wife's backside, so we are returning them. Easy on / easy off, and there is some benefit to the suspension which allows for a level step on uneven terrain, but the downside of getting soaked by flying snow makes them unusable.

my daughter is just starting to take up snow boarding. I'd like to get her a snowboard for christmas. How do I determine what size she needs? She is 23 yr.old and is 5'8"

You posted this question under the Atlas 9 Series Elektra Snowshoe Package I take it you mean Snowshoeing not snowboarding? The above package is a great value and comes with everything to need to start having fun in the snow. Based on ur specs I would recommend the 23in, but if she’s going to be hiking with a pack you may want to get the 25in which is just a little bigger. And for snowboarding hop on over to backcountry.com snowboarding section or stop by the help center.

Not recommended

Would not recommend. Even though the bindings are easy to get on and take off; there is a continuous back slap of snow leaving your backside, pack and gear covered with snow. I have had trips which left me cold and wet because of it. I am replacing them with something else.
