The Armada Pipe Cleaner Alpine Ski dominates the competition and reigns as the winningest pipe ski ever made. The Pipe Cleaner’s Comp Series Base would be at home on a World Cup racecourse and provides ridiculous speed for huge airs. This twintip ski’s AR Core 2 consists of lightweight wood laminates for reduced overall and swing weights, making spins and inverts easier. Armada’s 2.5 Impact Edge can not only hold through icy transitions and rail turns on groomers, but can also withstand the abuse of jibbing rails, boxes, and walls.
the only differnence is the graphics and the quality of wood. Armada makes all there new models with more refined and high quality material and later down the road they will change the ski up but as for now the tech is the same. It still has the race base the ABS construction ar core 2 and 2.5 millimeter edge.
I own these from the first year they came out.. the red/tan ones and they rip everything. Absolutely kill jumps and pipe, and are holding up well for me. I hit lots of rails with them and the edges and bases look just like the day i brought them home. Not to mention the race base and awesome carving... super sick ski.
im thinking of buying these skis but dont have the biggest budget but do have a pair of scratch rossingol bindings.. would those work for the pipe cleaner and if not what binding should i get
Any binding will work with the Pipe Cleaners. Just make sure that if you do mount them, get a professional to do it. Another thing to think about is if the DIN setting is in a proper range for you. If you have used them before and had no problems, then go for it.
Im pretty much a strictly park guy so would the ar6 or the pipe cleaner be better for me? And if i weigh about 135 lbs. and im 5'10" what would a good length be?
If you do rails then you have to get the ar6 unless you like to tune your skis everyday. The race base is super high maintenance while with the s7 on the ar6, you can tune it once a year and be in good shape.
I think that the 176 Pipe Cleaner is probably about what you are looking for. Great in the park. If you want something that also can hang outside the park though, then the AR6 would be better.
I'm an ex-racer who doesnt ski the park much, but when I am in Whistler or another place with a nice park I always take a few runs. I really like taking smooth straight airs in the pipe and these skis are perfect for that. They are race room constructed, not too soft, and arc like a GS ski. I think it would be sad to see these get destroyed on a rail, so if you're thinking about getting them I would suggest using for groomers, pipe, and tables.
they are both constructed in the same way but the pipe cleaner has a high maintenance race base that scratches super easily so the ar6 base is way more durable
How much difference is there between an AR6 and a Pipe Cleaner? I'm 6'1" 180lbs what length recommendations out there. My mantra is 177, Obsethed 179, won't be skiing it in fresh snow. Thinking the 176cm lengths.
The pipe cleaner is the ar6 but with a stiffer tail and softer but faster race base, I wouldn't choose either as bump ski's not all that quick of a ski, my son who is 5'-5" and 145lbs skis the ar6 in 171 so you might try the 176 or 181. The ar6 are very fun on groomers, but the tail being stiffer on the pipecleaner has makes it less versatile then the ar6.
Pipe Cleaners, MSP's, Alpha One's, other narrower skis twin tipped or not for moguls and firm snow. Not looking for an everday ski but more specialized. I have a Mantra as my everyday ski, also an Obsethed as a goof around soft snow, flying through busted up leftovers ski. I hammer bumps on both of my skis extremely well but looking for something more fun. So many odd companies now out there, Line, 4frnt, Liberty, Armada, plus all the older companies. How do I choose without being able to demo them.
