Sub-zero temperatures, howling wind, and driving snow are no problem when you're wearing the super-warm Arc'teryx Men's Fission LT Hoody. Its WindStopper membrane keeps the weather at bay, while 200g of PrimaLoft synthetic insulation ensures you stay toasty warm as you ascend the last few feet to the summit. The Fission LT Hoody is an excellent jacket for ice climbing, winter mountaineering, and skiing in extremely cold weather. When your water bottles freeze solid and any bare skin turns white, this Arc'teryx jacket is ready for the challenge. *Available for US shipment only.
Bottom Line: Don't let the cold stop your day in the mountains. Fight through it with the Arc'teryx Fission LT Hoody.
i agree w other reviewers, excellent quality, fit and warmth, but if you need any kind of ruggedness, go for the ar instead. the lt's shell is windstopper - good for stopping wind, but not much else.
Does exactly what is says on the tin... Great cut, great fitting hood and neckpiece, I've done backcountry skiing in the Alps, and then gone out drinking to celebrate surviving and this jacket was perfect for all of it.
An essential piece of winter clothing. I combine this with an outershell for complete warmth and dryness. Arc'teryx are No1 for this kit.
Just a couple of questions: 1) Is the hood removable? 2) Is there a drawcord at the waist and/or hem? 3) Comparing this jacket against The North Face Plasma Thermal Jacket and was wondering which has more synthetic insulation, and therefore warmer?
I was choosing between the Fission SV jacket and this LT hoody. Normally I get hardshells for winter, because I don't like the poofy look of softshell down or synthetic filled jackets. But hardshells usually require layering and aren't warm by themselves. I just wanted a nice warm jacket I could throw on, so I went with this one since it had much more filling than the SV. Turns out the jacket isn't that poofy. It's just as bulky as my hardshell because of all the layers I had to wear. It's perfect for me since I'm constantly walking from class to class. Now I only have one thing to take off when I get indoors.
I was eyeing this jacket for a while, waiting for it to come down from $400 and when it dropped to $280, I had to have it.
The quality is what you'd expect from Arc'teryx - perfect. The hood is very well designed and, although meant to go over a helmet, can easily be cinched down over a bare head.
The jacket is puffier than I expected after reading many reviews, but it is a far cry from the puffiness of jackets like TNF Nuptese. It really is phenomenally warm for its size. In fact, it is very easy to over-heat in this thing if you're doing alot of moving around. Some skiers on another site mentioned that it was too hot for them [it has no venting options].
Overall, I was just looking for a jacket that would let me get from class to class up in Maine next year and so I was looking for the warmest of the warm, and this definitely fit the bill. An excellent winter jacket.
After spending years layering for cold weather, I really wanted a jacket that I could just through on over a T shirt. I was debating between synthetic and down, but I really wanted something that I could ski in and also wear around town without the puffy look of down. Most synthetic jackets weren't going to be warm enough, but this one is awesome. I wear it around town and on the slopes and it keeps me warm in any condition, and because it is synthetic and not down, I get the warmth I want without being so puffed up, and vulnerable to rain and snow.
This jacket is very warm for its weight and bulk, blocks wind very well. Great for everyday use no matter what the temperature is. I have worn it for almost a full year.
