Arc'teryx Alpha SL Jacket - Women's - 2007

The Women's Alpha SL by Arc'teryx is one of the lightest jackets to carry the Gore-Tex waterproof guarantee. Straightforward by design, the Alpha SL eliminates bells and whistles to include only what you need for fowl-weather defense. WaterTight zips, a helmet compatible hood and a laminated hem drawcord secure your comfort while feather-light Gore-Tex Paclite fabric is guaranteed to keep you dry. This simple shell is extra breathable and intended for high-output pursuits such as ice climbing, snowshoeing, and backcountry touring. At only 8.2 ounces (women's medium) the Alpha SL should be in your pack any time of year for protection from nasty weather. Complete with Underarm zips and a chest pocket, this jacket proves that you can get more from less. *Available for US shipment only.

Bottom Line: Ounce for ounce the best lightweight protection you can get.

fabulous

This coat has a tough outer fabric for running through the forest in sideways rain. It wasn't phased by the sharp beach rocks when I sat on it at the last bonfire. Should be great in the snow and cold! Well worth the money and it was made in Canada!

Great Shell!!

I haven't really had the opportunity to really put this jacket to the test. So far, in the cool winter/spring climates (-10C), I have found it to be great. I put on a fleecy pullover under the jacket and during a hike I am very comfortable as I don't feel bulky. It is a good length overall, and I like where the pocket is away from where your gear sits. It is so light I forget that I am wearing it. I love the red, the style, and the price since I found this exact jacket in Canada for way more!!! This is the second time I've purchased from this site and I love it!! I will continue to buy my adventure gear from here since their pricing is great and their customer service is FANTASTIC!!

awesome jacket !

this jacket is perfect! after years of wearing old school goretex, "other-brand" waterproof-breathable jackets, and baggy-fit unisex sizing, i decided to spring for this women's-specific goretex paclite jacket. i hike year round in colorado, so i really appreciate solid designs in outdoor gear.
not only does it this alpha sl fit perfectly, but it looks stylish! it rolls up small and is so light, you hardly know you have it in your pack.
i kept wearing this jacket after the deluge during a recent mountain hike, as it was so comfy, and it breathes way better than any other goretex jackets i have ever worn. paclite is definitely worth the price, and arcteryx has the design dialed in.
also, i received this jacket in just a couple of days from backcountry, which was a cool bonus.

Love it!

Great lightweight jacket - really impressed by the construction and features for the weight. Road testing so far is limited to a few days out on the tele skis - it is so comfy you forget you are wearing it (gone are the days of bulky shells). A reasonably small cut though so i have a larger size than expected so i can layer below for warmth. Love the brilliant blue colour -great for visibility in the trees (and a welcome relief from that baby blue the manufacturers think we all love - but don't!

Perfecting the basics

By:
December 18, 2006

I've used this jacket for about 20 ski days so far (mostly resort skiing and a couple of touring days). It's very lightweight, perfect for touring, and has just the very basic features, but the fit and function are ideal. The hood works very well over a helmet - keeping you warm without limiting visibility or movement. Cuffs, sealed seams, and zippers, etc. are all just right - as you'd expect from Arc'teryx. It's light enough for the warmest ski days and I can just add layers the colder it gets. And I really love the blue color. ;)
