the best 0 Degree bag for the price and a little hint if you want it cheaper (20% off the MSRP) go to ALPS mountaineering website and sign up to be a pro-tester.

Surprisingly enough, it's exactly the same as when it's not packed. 5 pounds 4 ounces for the regular, 6 pounds 2 ounces for the long.

Great Bag

By:
September 25, 2008

Low price that I bought this on Steepandcheap made it great, however if you are looking for a light bag, pay the extra money because this is very heavy to bring on a camping trip. Also, ratings are not based on how cold it can be for you to use the bag, but more a scale, and I would definitely want a warmer bag if I were camping in anything under 20 degrees.

I'm 5'9" and I can't really fit into this bag. Has anyone else had this problem, or could I have been sent the wrong bag? It says it can fit people up to 6'6", but there's no way thats true for the bag I was sent.

It sounds like you were shipped the wrong size sleeping bag or it possibly has a manufacturing defect. For your size, I think the regular would have been a better choice anyway.

Loved it!

Great bag!! Even though I'm female and short I was warm and toasty, with no cold air pockets at the bottom. And it offered a little knee room for turning in the night.

I've used this bag alot and have to say it takes some effort to reduce the size but with a good strong stuff bag it's no bigger than most. The standard stuff sack takes it down to 12"x18" & a compression stuff sack will cut that by another third.

Great bag, a bit short

By:
December 1, 2008

I've used this bag a couple of times now, but it wasn't as cold as I would have liked it either time. My only complaint so far is that it's a bit shorter than I expected (I'm 6'1"). Overall, seems to be a great bag for the price.

Warm and sick value

By:

The Desert Pine makes an excellent spare or beater bag. It's warm as hell and a great value. It's a big heavy for trips, although that's the case for most 0 degree bags. Nice bag.

Excellent Value

For the price, this is one heck of a winter bag. I use it at home when I just can't quite get warm and it works immediately. Haven't taken it snow camping yet, but with a bag liner I've no fear. It is pretty heavy, but so is everything when winter camping. I'll probably use it on a kayak trip so I'm not carrying it long distances.

I've had a few bags over the years and must say this is the best quality/value for the small price, no problem keeping me warm at 11,500 ft. in mid Oct. I would highly recommend this product to the avg. camper/hiker. Have fun on your next big adventure!!!
