66 North Iceland Stormur Jacket - Men's

The Stormur jacket completes my ever growing winter outdoor clothing collection for this year..and what a way to end things! First of all, this is NOT your typical hooded fleece jacket. The smooth face Polartec windpro on the outer surface will do a great job of blocking all but the strongest/coldest wind, while the high loft (similar to the MHW monkey man) on the inside feels absolutely awesome. At first I wasn't sure about the metal snaps on the cuffs in place of velcro..but snapped up it cinches around my wrist just about right and will probably last longer than velcro. The chest pocket is smaller and more shallow than it should be..but I rarely use those things anyway. The style of the jacket is terrific..I usually wear medium but got this in large because of European sizing (I'm 6'0 165lbs) and the L fits great and still allows plenty of room for layers underneath. The hood also is lined with the silky soft high loft and is easy to cinch down around your head without block vision..and has a "brim" that is reinforce with nylon on the back to retain it's shape. If you're looking for a hooded fleece that is different than what everyone else is wearing (66 degrees is hard to find and expensive when you do) then this is it. However, even though quality of materials is high, and styling is second to none..I wouldn't have given it 5 stars if I had paid the normal sale price, but I snagged one on SAC and it is more than comparable to anything else in the same price range. Keep in mind that this is more of standalone, warm outer layer jacket than something you would use for layering...with that in mind the price doesn't seem too bad. Highly recommended if you are looking for a stylish yet functional..and really warm fleece. Another quick note..the "blue gray" shown in the pic is not too far off from what it really looks like. The "green" in the pic doesn't really look green to me...but that's not a bad thing.:)

This jacket is super warm. It is made of both Polartec Wind Pro with a bonded Thermal Pro High Loft interior (something the description does not mention). Technical features but is also a great jacket to wear around town. I am psyched on it (although I do think it is a little over-priced). If you want a jacket that you won't see everyday - I would recommend it.

It was time for me to replace my hand-me-down/worn out/too tight fleece jacket I've been wearing for the last 5 yrs so I decided to go all out on myself.
First thing I noticed about this jacket was the loose threads coming off the seams. Although none of the loose threads seem to affect the structural integrity, I would have felt better if this expensive purchase had more attention to detail. It says on the tag, "Made in Latvia". Other than the loose stuff, they did a great job.
Second thing I noticed was the density of this jacket. This is the heaviest fleece I've owned (although I felt heavier ones) but also has a handmade quality feel to it.
Third thing is the nice comfy/soft fleece lining the inside. One of the reasons I picked this one (from photos). I was not disappointed in this aspect.
I didn't like the fact that the sleeves are short. The medium I ordered has a nice long torso (so do I) but the sleeves need to be 1-2 inches longer, minimum.
I wish the chest pocket was larger (It looked bigger to me in the pics) or that there was a large inner chest pocket opposite the small outer pocket.
I hope this jacket last for at least 8yrs cause it was expensive. If the Stormur falls apart I'll update this.

I am a woman who purchased the Men's style 66 North Iceland Stormur fleece jacket. With that in mind, for some men, this jacket might be perfect. I loved the warmth, but the fit wasn't right for my body. Too bad. I think that most men's jackets are better made than the female versions and I was not wrong about the Stormur. I agree with the review that said this fleece is over-priced, though. I might try this brand again when I have more choices in style.
