Easy To Use

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Picked one of these up for the grandparents since I love mine so much. The best part about this speaker is how seamlessly it connects with bluetooth devices. After the initial pairing, you literally just turn it on each time you want to use it and it syncs right up.

Patio chillin

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

Bought this for my semi-technology-literate father and he absolutely LOVES it. He told me he connected it to his iPad super quick and was drinking gin and tonics on the patio and listening to Bueno Vista Social Club.

Sound quality and battery life are great and he said the range is awesome.

I liked giving this gift so much that I got one for my sister's hosuewarming when she moved to NY.

Great for the money!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Good quality, good sound, good price, great battery life. I've never had a Bluetooth audio device last this long. It says 16 hours in the description, but I've had it play for 24+ hours (accidentally) and it still was not dead.

Pretty solid, yet a bit overpriced

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This thing has grown on me a lot. I just feel like from a working mans perspective, $100 is just too much.

If I received this as a gift I would be stoked.

Best gift ever

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I love these so much, they are durable and can withstand like anything. I personally dropped this off of my pack as I was longboarding the Provo and it does not have a scratch on it. Sounds great in the woods and the battery lasts a long time! This and a buckshot is all you ever need

Best gift ever

love!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I take my speaker everywhere with me... literally camping, in the car, to the beach, and to work! Love it! The charge lasts for a very long time and it is a very durable speaker.

Can you plug in none blue tooth devices to this turtle shell?

Responded on

Hey BSHEUER404400 ,

Yes, you can use a 3.5mm audio-in port instead of using blue tooth!

Small box, big sound.

Love this little thing. Great for backpacking! Light enough and small enough, not to mention more than tough enough! A must have for any music and backpacking enthusiast!

So nice I bought it twice

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

After doing some research I bought one of these as a present for my non-tech savvy mom to have and take to the back patio and the beach. Super easy to set up (gives you voice confirmation on turning on and completing synching), nice color (purple and sea-form-easy to find/not forget), and sounds great for the size, good base and easy to hear/understand middle and treble. Worked so well that I bought a second one for myself. One nice feature that I didn't realize it had and haven't used yet is a tripod screw in bracket on the bottom so I can connect it to gorrilla mini-tripod to hang from a tree branch or the ceiling of my tent.

Killer Turtle-Beast!

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

What a cool speaker- I've had it for a day and I love it already. Sound quality is great, the speaker phone is excellent, and the long battery life is a big selling point- as are the stealth-fighter-esque looks of the thing.

Showed it to a buddy of mine yesterday, and he's planning on picking up a couple more for his sons for Christmas now.

If I do anything ridiculously awesome with it, other than blast tunes while hanging out at the house or in the car or whatever, I'll be back to tell you about it.

I like Turtles.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This little guy is great! It's small and light, making it a perfect companion on any trip. The sound is excellent if you fancy bluegrass like I do, but I'd look for a larger speaker like the Big Turtle Shell if you're into bass-heavy music.

I've used this thing all over - from relaxing down by the river to gearing up at the crags, the OT Turtle Shell 2.0 has never let me down.

My turtle was right at home up on the belay ledge this past weekend!

I like Turtles.

I love my little turtle!!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Took this baby camping so that we could have music during our down time. It lasted the whole trip (4 days) and only needed to be charged once. I'm incredibly amazed with the sound quality. It's small and pack-able which I enjoyed the most but has a huge sound. I highly recommend this little gem if you want a quality speaker. Also the connectivity is awesome and it is 100% user friendly. I also use it to play music in the shower, while cooking, cleaning, studying and parties. Its waterproof so if your friend accidentally spills a beer or water or whatever liquid on it, Your speaker is safe and sound! Outdoor Tech is a great company too. They back up all their product so if you ever have issues hit them up and they will totally help you out!

It doesn't get much better.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is my second turtle shell after my original decided to take a dip in the lake. Outdoor Tech had me sold on the original turtle shell, and I didn't hesitate to get another. The sound quality is amazing, and easily puts any other speaker of this size to shame. If your looking to take the music with you from the backyard to campsite to the pool, then look no further.

Perfect Product!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I bought this about three weeks ago now and have used it outside at a large BBQ party, on the patio with friends, in my Jeep, and in my home. The speaker has been excellent in all applications and was MORE than loud enough - louder than a bear like it says on the box? I don't know but loud enough and clear enough to serve its function.
Things I really like:
1. Compact size allows to fit in anywhere, will fit on my Galaxy S3 phone and looks like a factory component.
2. Sound quality - clear and precise. Sounds as good as the track I am listening to can.
3. Volume - riding around in my vehicle the music and hands-free volume are great. I've been told I am more clear thatn when I use my wired headset.
4. Lightweight - I can drop this in my bag to carry anywhere and not notice it all.
5. Easy to sync - literally turn on your phone's bluetooth and turn this on. That's it. It works everytime.

This is an excellent product for my purposes. I did not want or expect a professional sound system but it EXCEEDS my expectations. Thank you Outdoor Tech for making exactly what I was looking for!

The Turtle Shell 2.0 uses a micro USB charger, which is different from the Turtle Shell 1.0 (mini b 8 pin).

Can you post a link to a charger cable for the 2.0? Having trouble finding the right one!

*edit
Nevermind- turns out I had the original Turtle Shell 1.0 THIS WHOLE TIME. Oops.

hook, line and sinker!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This speaker was purchased with a purpose. About a year ago, my whole car cd/radio/speaker system died. Since then I've resorted to various speaker rigging systems: iPhone in a cup, stolen laptop speakers or, my personal favorite, singing made up songs ultra loudly.
My boyfriend decided that in order to maintain his sanity and eardrums, enough was enough. It was time to invest. The boom box came in the mail on Friday and by Saturday at 7 A.M. we were on the road to Acadia National Park, which is roughly 6 hours away from where we live. This is important to mention before I say anything else: my car has no working AC (so if you want fresh air, windows must be down), sounds like it's missing the muffler, and my dog SCREAMS like a dolphin 50% of the time he's in the car. So when I say this, I mean it - this speaker rocks. I'm beyond impressed with its sound capabilities as well as its battery life. The device itself pairs easily with an iPhone 5 and 4S. Additionally, the boom box did not slide on the dash when driving around corners or go flying on incredibly bumpy roads. Outdoor Tech has brought my car back to life - AND saved my boyfriends' ear drums for a few more years. Now, if we could only get our dolphin-dog to stop screaming....

This review convinced me to buy a mighty killer Turtle friend. My car does not have bluetooth or aux-input connectivity in the stereo, and I really don't feel like shelling out for a new stereo- speakers are fine when I want to listen to the radio or a cd, but this little character does quite well with the music on my phone or ipod. Thanks Monique!

That is so stellar to hear Travis - rock on!!! My turtle just went sailing off the dashboard today and careened into the passenger seat - it's totally fine. I think it might play louder now! Hope your Turtle is slaying it!

Oh yeah, mine has jumped from its perch a few times, but for the most part stays in place really well! I have been blasting Quebecois ska punk fusion out of it for the last few days and it is killing it!

Check out Afrocelt - the speaker handles the base REALLY well!!

What the shell?

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Each time I use this little speaker, I become more and more impressed. The first time I heard the musical goodness flow from its spikey exterior I couldn't believe it. Surprisingly good bass for a little speaker (best I've heard compared to other speakers within the same price point), awesome battery life (I recharge it maybe once a week with moderate use), and just an overall cool setup. Really dig the water resistance and tough construction. One negative I've noticed is that the bluetooth range is definitely not 32 feet, and probably resides at about 20 max, but who cares? Overall, awesome speaker - Outdoor Tech is doing it right!
