I wore these just one day for a 25 mile hike through pumice, sand and gravel in low top shoes. I didnt even have to use the strings to tie them down they are designed that well. They hook onto your front laces of your shoes and stay put! Last year I didnt have gators and got HUGE blisters from all the fine dust that got into my shoes. I am all about weight and these are the lightest ones that I could find that are very easy to use. There are the montbell ones but they did not come in size 15 for me. I like the design of these way better too. Also one last thing. When you hike you can not feel them and dont even notice them on.
