Great Hat For Running
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
- Fit: True to size
I use this hat for running - for both a bit of sun protection, but also just a touch of insulation on cooler days. I get hot quickly and while the picture doesn't show it, the sides of this hat are vented mesh - this hat breathes very well. I also feel it's well-constructed.
My other caps are now jealous

- Familiarity: I've used it several times
I used to wear a surplus boonie cap with a full brim when I went on 3-season hikes/camping. Picked up this cap on a whim and it immediately became my go-to cap. It is significantly lighter, breathes well, and packs down to almost nothing. The fabric even seems to be some what water repellent. In a gentle drizzle, I noticed the water was beading rather than soaking in.
I have the dark olive green color, and love it for being in the woods. Will probably snag a blue for use around the city where color coordination is a bit more important.
It's a winner

Kind of hard to get too effusive over a hat but, for me, this is hands down the best hiking cap I've ever owned.
I'm in SoCal and even though we have big boy ranges and snow; a cap is what I'll wear on the trail nine months out of the year. This hat is crazy light, durable, allows for some ventilation and is low-profile. It also cleans up really well and has a cool 'hiker' look.
You won't go wrong with pulling the trigger on this one.
Great fit, Cool hat
Fits great and very breathable.
This has become my go to hat
breathes well, protects my knoggin from the sun and does the job.
Outdoor Research Sun Protection Products
If you're not careful, long days outside hiking, paddling or climbing can leave your skin damaged and burned. To keep you protected from damaging ultraviolet rays, Outdoor Research offers a full line of sun hats, and UV Protective shirts and pants designed to keep you protected from the sun.
Twice is not coincidence
This is the second OR Swift cap that I have bought. I have the khaki one (the tan coloured one) for the wilderness, and a blue one for when I prefer a more pleasing appearance around town, at the park, or wherever else.
They are well-fitting, light, breathable, and have a sensibly sized peak. The fact that the cap has mesh all the way under the solid top panel is the cause of great ventilation and breathablity. The solid panel is kept off the head, and this also aids in preventing sun-induced fatigue.
The comment in another review that the strap dangles is not a problem, because the strap actually has a purposely designed channel on the other side for the strap to slide in to. It can be hard to see and easy to miss, but this makes it seamless once the strap is tucked away.
light weight, well vented sun protection
Love this hat, the Diablo is a little more orange than the picture indicates and looks even better than I was expecting. Other reviews say it is a bit big but I've got a pretty good sized head (60 cm helmet size) so this thing fits me perfectly. Most importantly, it keeps my bald head from burning without trapping any heat which I've never gotten a good combination of with other hats.
Lightweight sun and sweat protection
Can't even tell it's on your head. The bill doesn't lose its shape even when packed in a pack.
Agree with the other reviewers that the cap is too large. It fits well when I have it tightened down nearly all the way, but then the strap dangles 2-3 inches in the back (see picture). Not a deal-breaker, though. Great hat.
My favorite hat

- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
Bought this hat a few months ago and it has become my go to for any outdoor activity. Breathes well, keeps the sun off, and has been super durable. My one complaint: wish it came in a bit of a smaller size. In high winds it can fly off even when I have it tightened to the max.

The Swift Cap is my new favorite. My passion is alpine backpacking and a good brimmed cap is important. This one hits the comfort/breathability/weight (2 oz) sweet spot.
Light weight and COOL!
Saw this cap on a buddy I picked up from the A.T. He loved it so I bought one to hike the Camino in Spain. LOVE it. Very light and dries quickly. Cool, vented design.
Great cap, love it!
This cap is very well made and is a great fit. It is espically good on hot days as the sides are ventilated due to the material used.
Not one size fits all
First, let me say this is a great cap idea. It does a great job at letting air flow. The problem is the sizing. I have it sized all the way down and it is still a little loose in the wind. I wear a medium in other OR hats, but this is swimmingly large. I'm looking at replacing the strap design with Velcro, hopefully that will allow me to adjust it to an appropriate size.
Lesser Swift Cap
I have two Swift Caps and love 'em so much I bought a third. This Swift Cap looks similar, but on closer inspection it is a slightly smaller cap. It still says one size fits all, but this is not so. The other caps fit me fine. This new cap is a skull cap. Less fabric on top with a longer tail at the back. Very disappointing!
Stellar and Rad
This hat is light weight and super awesome. By awesome, I mean that it is super cheap for what you are getting. light weight, good at blocking the sun, eye catching, cool looking.
I accidentally bent the brim the wrong way and with some magic I quickly moved it back into place and i haven't noticed any problems with the brim.
I enjoy the fabric of the hat, a combination of mesh and a highly woven cover. I suggest taking this on trips when it is not moist/ wet/ damp/ soaking/ downpour/ sprinkle/ watery, because the top is open and the only real protection you would get is in your eyes, no top protection, more for venting, which is why it is super great for running.
I run XC for my high school and will wear this hat on those sunny shirtless days, I dont really like wearing my sunglasses while i run because i feel like it wobbles and bounces on my face. Hats stick better to your head and does not impede your vision as much. Great hat for the cheap price, good Baseball cap, I also plan on taking this up mountain climbing like Mt. Rainer.
My FAVORITE HAT
I wear this almost every day. I always get a good sweat going when I'm outside even in cool weather. This hat breathes so well, the sides are an open mesh that breathes. I love the fit and how it looks.
This hat is the best all around summer hat;it keeps the sweat from running down your face and with its mesh inner construction you don't get"hot head".Agreat product!
I wear a 7 & a half hat size, which hat...
I wear a 7 & a half hat size, which hat do I need to buy, the Large or X-large swift hat?
We only have these in one size its going to fit 7 1/8 - 7 5/8. So you should be good to go.
