Do you stand in front of your closet debating whether to wear a synthetic or merino wool top until you get so frustrated that you give up and cry in the bathtub with a pint of pistachio ice cream? Well, stop it. The Sequence Duo T-Shirt is here to help. Outdoor Research used synthetic and merino fibers to give you both the quick-drying properties of synthetic and the insulating, odor-resistant power of merino, and disguised it as a casual tee. There’s no job the Sequence Duo can’t tackle: from trail runs, to base layering for the ski slopes, to a night spent watching your buddy’s band at the bar.

Wish it had more Merino

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

Great shirt, use it running and hiking, wish it had more merino, as it doesn't keep the smell down like my 100% merino clothes, but its comfortable and breathes extremely well!

Very Comfortable

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs large

I got this shirt thinking that it would be very similar to the Stoic shirts of similar style and it's a very close match. I wear these as a single top layer when running. They're soft and more comfortable than the full synthetic tops and so far, don't pick up odor. Overall, the shirt does seem a little big overall, but I did not experience the sleeve length issues that others have mentioned here.

High Performance

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: Runs large

I ripped this shirt out of the box, jumped on a train and hit the trail up the Alpsitze, GE (2628m) in a driving rainstorm. This shirt acted as a perfect base layer, keeping me warm even after I couldn't tell the difference between sweat and rain. By the time I had jogged back down to the town of Garmish (775M), the shirt was completely dry and realtively stink free.

I really like the arms coming down nearly to my elbow, however it fits very loose. If hadn't ordered a small I would drop 1 size. (5'6" 140lbs)

Long sleeves but great comfort

My title says it all. The sleeves are a little longer than normal but they add a little protection from the sun for me so it works out. The shirt is very soft and I use it while backpacking and rock climbing. It is just thick enough to be comfortable while wearing a heavy backpack.

OR website says this shirt is: "12% Merino...

OR website says this shirt is: "12% Merino wool and 88% polyester" and the sidebar says something about cotton - how much cotton?

Best Answer Responded on

Yeah, there's no cotton at all. The OR website is right. I think what happened is that someone at read "the feel of cotton" and miswrote the description here.

Sleeves got hUUge

I have one of these shirts that i've had for a heap of years and absolutely love- it's been my goto shirt for trail running, hiking, paddling, you name it. It's the perfect blend of synthetic and wool tech. Decided to pull the trigger and start breaking in a new one before the old one gave up the ghost and something strange has happened to the sleeves... they are possibly the longest sleeves in the history of short sleeves. The sleeves come down below my elbows- but not long enough to be called a 3/4. I'm still wearing it, but so bummed. The older shirt is perfect, the new one is goofy.

should have listened to you.. sleeves are enormous, I still like the shirt though

Great shirt

Never want to take this shirt off - good thing its made of merino wool so it does not stink to bad!

Really a great shirt - dries fast and very comfortable. I wish they had more in my size of different colors.

Great all-purpose shirt!

I really like this shirt. It is soft, and softens with repeated laundering. It breathes and wicks well, and fits true-to-size. The merino wool really does provide some anti-stink properties, so that even when worn for several days in a row, it doesn't get nearly as ripe as all-synthetic tees. All-in-all, this shirt works well in the backcountry, as a lightweight baselayer, or even just for kicking around.

Review Title

I bought two of these shirts in the summer of '09 and love them. The shirts have the feel of a natural fiber but wick like a synthetic. I wore one on my ascent of Ben Nevis in the fall of '09 and it stayed remarkably dry as I must have sweat off about a quarter of moisture on the way up.
